Robert F. Aldrich, age 90, passed away on October 23, 2018.
He was born in Aurora, Ohio on August 31, 1928 to the late Ralph and Louise (Durfee) Aldrich. Bob was married to his high school sweetheart Doris Spencer Aldrich for the last 67 years. He was a proud engineering graduate of THE Ohio State University. If he ever heard "O-H" he was always sure to answer "I-O". Bob was a chemical engineer with PPG Industries in Barberton his entire career. He could fix anything and his passion for woodworking will fuel memories in his family for generations.
Preceded in death by his son, Jeff; brothers, Durfee and Bill Aldrich, he is survived by those who will sorely miss his ornery spirit, enthusiasm, and were so proud of him; his wife, Doris; daughters, Sue (Paul) Petit, Barb Aldrich; son, John (Kathy) Aldrich all of Doylestown; brother,
Richard Aldrich of Wash.; seven grateful grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank our extended family at the Doylestown Health Care Center for their loving care of our "Buckeye Bob" and the staff of Crossroads Hospice.
As per Robert's wishes there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held by the family. In his memory, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, 5455 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43214, the Doylestown Food Pantry, 153 Church St., Doylestown, OH 44230, or a charity of one's choice. I worked with Bob at PPG during the 1960's down in the plant. I think I still have a picture of all of us. His advice to me was: "Never turn down a promotion". Sometimes that worked and other times it didn't. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends.
