Robert Atwood Obituary

(Rob) Robert Mark Atwood (Rob), 58, of Coventry Township, Ohio passed away Monday, May 3rd at his residence after an extended illness. Rob was born May 18, 1962 in Akron, Ohio as Robert Blondheim. He was a ward of Children Services of Summit County with the name of Robert Keller from the age of two to 13 and lived from two to five with a foster family, then in a CSB group home until 8. He joined the Atwood family as a foster child at 8 and was adopted when he was 13. He attended Akron Public Schools completing his schooling at Buchtel High School in 1980 where he was in the horticulture program. This remained a lifelong passion. He married Rebecca Poppe on June 8, 2000, in Akron and resided in Summit County until his death. Rob is survived by his wife; his parents, Glenn Atwood PhD and Mary Ellen Atwood PhD of Copley; son, Ryan Atwood of Missouri; sister, Ruth Atwood (Kathy) of Pennsylvania; brother, John Atwood (Debra) of Georgia; his stepchildren, James Poppe of Kansas, Matthew Poppe (Jessica) of Arizona, Joshua Poppe of California, and Jessica Henrichs of Illinois. He also leaves behind his faithful Yorkie companions, Sir Tigger and Lady Lavender. He was preceded in death by his brother, Keith and sister, Terilyn. A memorial service to celebrate Rob's life will be held later. Memorials may be made to a charitable organization of your choice preferably one dealing with the environment or animal welfare.
