Robert Huffman Obituary
He was born January 2, 1919 in Gibsonburg, Ohio to Margaret Huffman Smith and Warren Huffman, but lived in Akron most of his life. He graduated from Kenmore High School in 1937, served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II, retired as an installer from Western Electric after 40 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was also a lifetime member of Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383, and Community Church of Portage Lakes. He enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife of 61 years, Naomi; and his sister, Betty Jane Huffman. He is survived by his son, James (Hope) Huffman; daughter, Margaret "Peggy" (Patrick) Rammel; grandchildren, Kathryn (Adam) Winters, Jason (Rachel) Huffman, and David (Amanda) Huffman; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Nicholas, Ethan, Emma, Emerson, and Christopher.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m., with service beginning at 3 p.m., Dr. John Thielenhaus officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park with military service provided by Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries, P.O. Box 547, Akron, OH 44309 or Community Church of Portage Lakes, 3260 Cormany Rd., Akron, OH 44319 in memory of Robert.
