Robert McGowan Obituary
Robert J. McGowan, 88, of Kent, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Maple Wood Care Center in Streetsboro.
He was born July 26, 1925 in Kent to Okey Lee and Erma Fay (Myer) McGowan. He was trained as a pilot in the U.S. Army Aircorps in World War II. He graduated from Kent State University. Robert was the John Hancock Insurance Agent in Kent until 1985 when he retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Jeannette Craft; stepson, John Milliken; companion, Norma Jean White of Mogadore; and his Yorkie, Baby Doll.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 7th at the Kent United Methodist Church -- Wesley Chapel, with Rev. Douglas Denton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church of Kent, Memorial Fund, 1435 E. Main Street, Kent, OH 44240 or the Animal Protective League, 8122 Infirmary Road, Ravenna, OH 44266. Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
