We sang in church choir together, he got us involved in the zoo, and Grace calls it Roger's Hospital. He had so many ideas and so much he wanted to do. We will miss him so.

To the Sherman Family. Your dad was a great role model as a father. As a young neighbor he was always very friendly to us kids and even forgiving when we broke a window playing ball in your side yard. One night when some of us boys were suppose to be camping out in the backyard he caught us sneaking back late and handled it with tender care when he could have called our parents. Bill hope to see you at our 50th reunion in September

Family of Roger Sherman,
I was sorry to hear of the death of Roger. I knew him from Children's Hospital; but also from the fact that he was our neighbor in Canada. They owned a cottage a few hundred feet from us. My sister Connie knew him best, from the functions and trips that the Hospital was involved in.
She describes him as a disciplinarian, but a fair, honest, and good man.
He was a real asset to the community and will be missed!
God Bless Him and all of You!

Jason,
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I still remember him coaching our little league team and trying to keep us in line at the house on Granger.

Roger and I were friends many years at the Akron Zoo. Volunteeriing has always been a big part of my life and the hours spent at the Zoo and Zoo Board meetings with Roger were always "Beary" special. Akron Zoo is much bigger and better due to time and love invested in it. God Bless America and Roger Sherman. Barbie Kerch

Roger was a wonderful asset to both Children's hospital and the Akron Zoo and I had the pleasure of knowing him well in both roles. I worked with him at Akron Children's in my teens and volunteered with him at the zoo for many, many years. I always think of Roger when I enter the atrium at the zoo and remember him as he handed out his wonderful pennies. He soothed many tears and tantrums by offering his stamps and pennies to thousands of little children. My favorite memories are of him as the wizard for Boo at the Zoo. I was never allowed to let anyone else be the wizard because that belonged to Roger! The kids loved his magic light and he so enjoyed seeing all of the costumes and talking to the families. He will be missed and his legacy will be a very difficult one to ever match. Rest in peace my friend.

My sincerest sympathy to the family of Roger. I loved seeing him daily at the Akron Zoo during the summer. I will miss hearing him talk about his love for the Zoo, the children, and the visitors. He didn't just give money. He gave his time to help make the Zoo what it is today. I will miss him.

My sympathy goes out to the family of Roger Sherman. My first job as a young teenager was working as a co-op in the Administrative Dept. at Akron Children's Hospital and this is how I met Mr. Sherman. I remember him as a very dedicated man who was very well respected and he will surely be missed by all who knew him. RIP Mr. Sherman
