Rudy Kovacs Obituary

On August 17, 2009, Rudy Kovacs, 94, of Parma, passed away while visiting family in Maryland.

He was raised in Cleveland and served proudly in the United States Navy on the USS Edwards during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; three sisters, Barbara Swanda, Margaret Fruscella, and Irene Roncalli; and great-grand-daughter, Lauren. He was the beloved husband of the late Selma Zahn until her death in 1986, where they raised their children in Boston Heights. Rudy was the oldest son of seven siblings and is survived by his sister, Angela Merrifield; two brothers, Edward Kovacs and Albert Kovach; devoted father of Laurie Kowaluk and husband Garrett, John and wife Joanne, Kathy Percich and husband Dave, all from Maryland and (Rick) Rudy of Pocatello, Idaho; loving grandfather of Ted, Kristen, Megan, Anne, John, Aaron, Lance, Brittany, and Alison; great-grandfather of Nolan, Caroline, Annika, Sophie and Brandon. For more than a decade he has been with his dear and loving companion, Rose Mastrostefano and her extended family.

Memorial Mass will be on September 5, 2009 at St. Anthony, Parma, Ohio at 11 a.m.
