Sandra Ankney Obituary
Sandra Lee Ankney, "Sandy", age 73, of Mogadore, Ohio, died on Friday, July 20, 2018 at her home.
She was born on November 27, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Edward and Alice (nee Nyegard) Leasure.
Sandy was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Mrs. Ankney was a homemaker and loved to play bingo, going to casinos and fairs. Sandy was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Ankney, whom she married on July 1, 1967; her children, Brenda McGarr, Robyn (Tony) Morgan, and Edward (Francine) Ankney; her grandchildren, Christopher McGarr, Erica Shackelford, Devin and Brandon Ankney; two great-grandchildren, Cayden McGarr and Brayden Starks; Sandy's siblings also survive, Edward Leasure, Robert Leasure, and Judith "Judy" Pelegrinelli.
Other than her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her brother, James Leasure.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11 a.m.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Following all calling hours and services, Sandy will be cremated and will be placed in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
