Sandy J. Hanawalt, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2016.

Born on May 10, 1954 in Barberton to Donald Sr. and Jane (Wise) Lance, she was a life resident of Doylestown. A 1972 graduate of Chippewa High School, she attended the Wayne County Career Center to become an X-Ray Technician. She was then

employed by Summa

Barberton Hospital

for 38 years as an

X-Ray Technician and Mammographer. Sandy was a member of Johnson United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, and Bikers for Boobs for Breast Cancer Awareness. She enjoyed weaving baskets, riding motorcycles with her husband Mark, and was a bowler with the Monday Night Mixed League for many years. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, David R. "Butch" Lance; sister-in-law, Charlotte Lance; she is survived by her husband of 39 years, Mark L.; daughter, Sara Alvarado (Jim Sharlow) of Canton; grandchildren, Marcus Alvarado and baby on the way; brother, Don (Lanice) Lance Jr. of Doylestown; sisters, Linda (Dave) Sayre of Doylestown, Kim (Jack) Andrews of Grove City, OH; sisters-in-law, Linda Jean Lance, Judy Garey, Anita (Jim) Gibson, Tracy

(Kevin) Paridon; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown 44230 with Pastor Tal Lewis, officiating. Burial to take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stewarts Caring Place Cancer Wellness Center, 2955 W. I was saddened to hear about your loss. I will miss,seeing Sandy's smiling face when I walk out my door. My heart goes out to her husband. When we seen the ambulance I was hoping it was due to a minor fall. I wouldn't imagined it was due to a loss. Sandy was always so vibrant. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time especially around the holidays.

I was blessed to work at BCH with Sandy. My heart goes out to Mark and family. This is a huge loss for Sandy's work family as well. Sandy was a kind person and a true professional who was well-liked by everyone who knew her.

May God comfort us all as we adjust to this unexpected reality.
