Shirley Ann Galehouse (nee Formby), 71, died peacefully surrounded by her family May 19, 2006.
Shirley was the first college graduate in her family, earning her degree from the University of Akron, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was past president of the Summit County Medical Women's Auxiliary and one of the co-founders of Mobile Meals of Akron. She loved to travel, was a fabulous cook, and was passionate about entertaining and loved her log cabin in the woods. Shirley was loved by her life long friends the ``Loonies" and was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt and Viola Formby and twin brother, Tom, she is survived by her beloved children, Rob (Peg), Greg (Shannon), Anne, and John (Karen); beloved grandchildren, David, Sterling, Meredith, Ali, Beth, and Jason; sister, Eunice (John); and nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Jack Devany.
Service will be held 11 a.m. TUESDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home MONDAY from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1900 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
