Stanley L. Bishop, 81, gave up his struggle and joined his Lord, March 17,2007.
Stan was born in the Goodyear Heights area to Esther and Mearl Bishop. He is preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Richard P. He leaves behind many, many memories with his wife of 60 years, Ruth Marie (Cleckner).
His children, Becky (Randy) Heintzman, Susan (Don) Suboticki, Mary ( Steve) Marchese, and Andy (Veronica) Bishop, all rejoice and celebrate his life. His grandchildren, Ella (Deke), Sarah (Chad), Rick, Joe, David, Jean, Jillian, Jennifer and Katie will always have pink candy, airplanes, cars, and boating to remember. His great-grandchildren, Haley and Ian, have mounds of pictures and stories to make sure they will know how very special their great-grandpa was. His quick wit and enthusiasm touched the lives of many family and friends.
Stan loved and was proud of his family. He liked to be free to drive and look, a good road trip was the best, happy feet. He loved cars and in his heyday recognized every make and model on the road. He liked the purr of an engine, actually any engine that was running good. He loved boating and skiing and watching the family do this, it really is because of him that his whole family has boats and skis. He served in World War II and the Korean War with the U.S. Army Airforce. He was enamored with airplanes and spent a great deal of time designing, making, and flying numerous model airplanes. He would try almost anything, from building a boat, gardening, running his own business, making a car run, and would do a good job. He loved a good loud discussion on almost any subject as long as there was someone to take the opposite side. By example, he taught his family to love, respect, and enjoy life.
The family is very grateful to the staff at ManorCare, in Barberton, who gave our Dad so much tender, loving care.

Dear Mrs. Bishop and family,
You were always Mr. and Mrs. Bishop. How many happy vacations did we spend at Kentucky Lake? Stanley was a wonderful man and like a father in so many ways. Sometimes saying thank you just isn't enough. I met Stan in 1967,both him and Ruth welcomed me into their home and eventually into their family. I'll miss the many Friday night Drambuie discussions we had as our lives and friendship developed over the years. Many times over the past couple of years, as Stan's health began to fail, I thought of how lucky I was to have spent many happy times with him as part of his family.Thank you for being a friend. May your journey be a peaceful one. Sorry I couldn't come up with any OIT's. Peace,Randy
