Stephen J. Amato

Beloved husband Stephen J, Amato, 81, passed away December 25, 2017. Born in Akron, Steve resided in Brimfield for 57 years. He loved to play cards, shoot pool and watch sports. He enjoyed travel, especially to Vegas. He always had a smile and a joke.

He is survived by wife, Marie, of 57 years, with whom he was co-founder and VP of the Brimfield Young At Heart Club; children, Stephen (Jennifer) Amato Jr. and Marie (Ronald) Walchalk, who he was especially proud of and loved deeply; grandchildren, Ronnie and Madison Walchalk and Anthony Amato, who he often bragged about. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Alice Liolios and Patti Amato, and cousin Joan Pinzes. He was preceded in death by brother, David Amato.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 30, 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd., Rootstown, with a mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., with Father David Misbrener officiating. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery.

This picture is Steve's smile. I'll always remember his little laugh before he said something. How warm and friendly to me he was and that he and I were in the same "out" boat.
Love eternal.

Marie and family. Steve and I were so very saddened to hear of Steve's passing. Both of us were so very fond of of him and his incredible positive outlook. Of course ,all who knew him loved his gracious smile. May you be surrounded by those you love and be comforted by God' grace and mercy. We are in Fla now, otherwise we would have been at the service. peace. Eileen and Steve
