Dear Judy and family,
Mark and I are so sorry that we were unable to express our condolences to you all yesterday at the memorial service--the reception line was too long when we arrived--that itself is quite a tribute. The service was beautiful and it was so touching to hear Doc's children share their fondest memories. I too will hold dear the many fond memories of working with him at SCWC and all the fun times we had those many years ago. May the love of your family and many friends comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead.
Love, Mark and Sue Mathieu

Dearest Judy, Bonnie and Farley,
Gary and I and our entire "lake" crew (family) would like to express our deepest sympathy to you and the entire family. We will always remember Tom from our early days on Arcadia when he was still able to take Farley for early morning walks and cause Lucy to bark uncontrollably and then later when he would sit by the fire ring for hours on end. We hope that heaven has a good golf course and a great boat! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Judy, Amy, Faith & Bonnie...The hardest part about sending our sympathy is that words do not convey well the depths of comfort we wish to send you and your family. Please know that we are thinking of you during this difficult time. May your heart and soul find peace and comfort.

Uncle Tom had a firm hold on something that is so elusive… joie de' vivre. Hearing his hearty laughter and stories was proof enough of that "joie".
Tom was such a wonderful treasure, as he embraced the company of his loved ones. And he was a wise man, for he leaned on the many strengths of Judy and the kids.
He was a mentor for me during my adolescence, providing guidance during those awkward years.
I was not able to see Tom often over the last several years, as my path moved far away from Canton, but our visit during Christopher and Simone's wedding reaffirmed to me that he still had the "joie" and treasured his loved ones.
To embrace life and love as Tom did… should be a wish for all.

My father had the priceless ability to make his kids feel loved, simply by speaking to them-- plus no one gave a hug like my Dad.
He cared completely about every one of his friends and contacts. You all know this simply by the way he listened to you, spoke to you, and concentrated on YOUR situation (not his own).
To be able to do all that naturally, and then give so much of himself to the community he loved, shows just how big his heart was.
We will miss him every minute of every day, but as my wife Ronni says, we can take comfort that he is now seeing for miles, breathing with ease, and of course already helping someone else.

Dearest Jude, Amy, Faith, Bon, Chris, and Simone--we are both sad-dened that Dad is no longer with us; all the Sunday afternoon phone calls of humor, wit, and compassion and SPORTS will forever be with Daniel and me, especially the question: what's for dinner? We siblings were very blessed to have this gentle man care for and educate us. Thanks to you all for your tender care and love. Love from Daniel and Cynthia Hoover Stalcup.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Hoover's passing. He delivered me nearly 45 years ago and then became my doctor later in life. I begged him to not retire before he delivered my daughter, but he said "No deal" with a smile and retired 4 months before she was born. He was always so friendly and pleasant. What a great man.

Tom was responsible for bringing many Cantonians (including our daughter) into this world. Hopefully many of them "caught" some of his enthusiasm for life and dedication to life. He had a wonderful smile, even in times of adversity.
He was a strong person and a wonderful role model for many of us.
The residents of Stark County, as well as his family and friends have lost a wonderful person. We will all miss hiim and recognize that we are better because of him.
