Thomas Walsh Obituary

Thomas (Tommy) Francis Walsh, Jr. passed away February 13th, 2021 after a short illness. He graduated in 1955 from Garfield High School at the age of 16 after skipping two grades due to his intelligence, especially in math. A talented basketball player as well, playing for St. Vincent - St. Mary High School and Garfield High School, he held the foul shot percentage record at Garfield High School for 40+ years. After many years working in the appliance business, he retired from Waterloo Home Supply. After retiring, he took a part-time position at Firestone Public Golf Course so he could be amongst his friends and love of golf. He was always up for a game of golf or cards, even more so if there was a wager involved! Wherever he went, he was loved by all. Our nickname "Forrest Gump" was a running family joke because no matter whose name was mentioned, he had either met, known or had stories to share. Some of our favorite family moments together were spent around the kitchen table, also known as the Bermuda Triangle, hearing those stories and laughing long into the night. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce; his parents, Mary Louise and Thomas Sr. and sister, Mary Marlene, he is survived by his children, Jeff, Chris (Dave) Kormushoff, Teri (Tony) Parasson; grandchildren, Kalie, Bethany, Nick, Anna, Lauren, Katie and sisters, Katherine- Kitte (David) Wilson and Susan (Rick) Roberts. Honoring Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 27th, 10 a.m. at Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, 2425 Myersville Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom's memory to the J Club Roof Fund, 485 Morgan Avenue, Akron, OH 44311. Although Tom was a true and proud Irish man and a long-standing member of the Hibernian Club, the "J" Club was an integral part of his and Joyce's life together and will forever hold fond memories.

A friend from long ago when Tom and my husband worked at Home Centers together. Enjoyed his sense of humor and his company. RIP. Thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy to the Walsh Family. Although I hadn’t seen Tom in years...I have fond memories of our times working at Home Centers. We had great times working together...playing golf..playing cards...and tipping a few. We called him “ The Silver Fox” at HC. Tom had a contagious laugh and no one was a stranger. RIP Tom Walsh.
