I, of course, was very upset to hear about Tim's passing. Tim was key to my success as a graduate student at Kent, as my thesis advisor and then on my dissertation committee. He was a great person and mentor and I'm lucky to have had his wisdom and support throughout my 8 years at Kent. My deepest sympathies to Tim's family and loved ones.

Tim and I were good friends and went to graduate school together. We had great times at school, but my fondest memories are of playing softball with the Sprinklers, going camping and canoeing, and he and Jill's wedding. One of my favorite memories is when Tim and Jill, Dave and Sandy, me and my wife rented a cabin on a frozen lake over New Years, where we (re)invented the game of glow stick foot hockey. These were wonderful times with wonderful people. Tim, was a warm, funny, and intelligent man gone far too soon.

Tim and I joined Toastmasters around the same time. I was so fortunate to have been able to hear him speak so eloquently at Tuesday night meetings. He eventually became President of the club (not a surprise as he was always climbing up the ladder!) I will always remember how he kept the meetings on track but also kept us laughing with his quirky sense of humor. I was so impressed with his thirst for knowledge-He would come up to me after many of my speeches wanting to know more (My speeches were usually about nutrition and vegetarianism and he often spoke of his daughter who was a vegetarian and wanted more information for her!) I will remember him as a great family man and an intelligent, gentle, compassionate, kind, loving person. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family through this difficult time.

Best wishes and much love to Tim's family and friends. I was Tim's colleague at KSU for seven years, and always appreciated his kindness, support, and gentle spirit. He was truly a good man, and he will be missed by all. Godspeed, Tim.

I got to know Tim through Toastmasters. He was a very enthusiastic learner as well as teacher. I learned a lot about how speech physically occurs because of the way Tim translated the science into plain language. He added much friendliness and insight to our group discussions. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

So many fun memories through middle and high school with a great friend, tennis partner, fellow lifeguard, and all around great guy. Your smile and enthusiasm was always contagious and a motivator for all who accompanied you Tim. RIP my friend.

I will never forget your kindness and generosity. You were a great colleague and real friend. I am sorry that I didn't see you as often when I moved to Iowa, but because you let me work with you on an important project, I had a great record for my tenure at Iowa. My deepest condolences to your family and to your colleagues at Kent State Sociology.

Dear Gallagher family, I just learned of Tim's passing. He was one of my first post doctoral students at Washington University. He was so friendly and had a great sense of humor. I remember the paper we wrote together. It was a very nice paper with brand new methods. Tim was a pioneer and I am so sad to hear about his passing. Please know I am thinking about you all.
