Tom Anello Obituary

Tom Anello

Tom Anello, 69, of N. Canton passed away Saturday February 7, 2015 at his home.

Tom's passions in life included his Italian heritage, family, friends, Italian cooking, custom painting cars and motorcycles, hunting, construction design and training his pet dog Krieger.

His youth was spent on North Hill where he enjoyed hanging out with his friends and brothers at Bill's drive-in.

He graduated from North High School and enlisted in the Army. During the Viet Nam era he served in Germany as a radio repairman.

Upon returning from the Army he went to National Electronics Institute and received his degree in electrical engineering.

Tom retired from the City of Akron, Police and Fire Signal division and started his own business, Anello Design Builders. He also drove truck for Schneider International and worked as project manager for Fred Oliveri Construction and KJ Mirman Builders.

He was best known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He could always make you laugh and will be missed by all his family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Vito and Josephine and his older brother, Bill.

He is survived by his son, Michael and fianceé, Brenda Hayes of Aurora, Colorado; brother, Gary (Linda) of Gahanna, Ohio; his long time love, Al Davis of N. Canton Ohio; Aunt Carol Ammons of Akron; former spouse, Judy Anello of Akron; sister-in-law, Dorothy Anello of Cuyahoga Falls; and his beloved dog, Krieger; many extended family, friends, including cousins, many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the entire Hospice staff of Summa and his home care nurse Annie.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron, Ohio. Military Honors will be at 9 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home preceding the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 83 Mosser Pl., Akron, Ohio. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.

Dear Mike,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I have so many memories of him that I cherish. He took me on my first motorcycle ride and my helmet flew off and I had to hold it in my teeth until we stopped. He just laughed at me. I truly loved him. Hold on to all of your memories. This is a hard time for you, but I promise it will get easier to accept as time goes by. Lynda Petty-VanScoder

I am torn and so lost without my brother with me. We did so much together; spoke on the phone for hours at a time talking about the past, our youth, great times, good times, and yes some sad times. We always said we loved each other at the end of those "phone visits" and we said it from the depth of our hearts. I tried to write about Tom, but the words led into a book; way beyond the space it would take to adequately "tell his story". However, I found this poem that is
perfect and fitting for Tom:
My Brother
Tommy
As kids we lived together
We fought, we laughed, we cried
We did not always show the love
that we had inside.
We shared our dreams and plans
and some secrets too.
All the memories we share
Is what bonds me now to you
We grew to find we have a love
That is very strong today
It's a love shared by our family
that will never fade away
You are my brother not by choice
but by the nature of our birth
I could not have chosen a better one
You are the best on earth!
God will enjoy you, Tommy.
Love, Gary

Gary and Linda, I can only imagine how difficult this is to lose a brother. Keep the good memories of him close to your heart and know that he is finally at peace.

My prayers and sympathy to you and your family,

So sorry to hear about your loss. May you keep all of the good memories of Tom close to you during this time. He'll be watching you from above in the good company of our other family members up there (probably already enjoying a big Italian cookout with good food). My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Family & Al Davis, I met Tom when Al Davis did years ago, i will never forget that day,boy didn't we have so much fun and laugh so hard, he was such a joy to be around.I still keep a coin that he gave me years ago( a lucky half dollar) and often when i've look at it, i'd think about Tom and big Al as we called her.My heart was sadden when i saw his name today in the obituaries, but i know tom is at peace and some where making some one smile.I thank GOD for the pleasure of knowing him. My prayers are with you all
