Wendell Lawrence Obituary
He was born in Barberton where he was a life resident and retired from PPG Industries after 38 years of service. Wendell was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the 20 year Club at Lake Dorothy and Columbia Athletic Association. He was also a proud Army Veteran having served during World War II.
Preceded in death by his wife, Veronica and infant son, Wendell Stephen, he is survived by his children, Suzann Steagell, Kathleen Mitman, Elizabeth (Clark) Betancourt, David (Bonnie), Barbara (Donald) Emmons, Michael (Nanette) and Christine (Jeff) Brockman; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of 1 West at Summa Barberton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton, Fr. Robert Jackson, celebrant. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by Wadsworth VFW Post 1089 and American Legion Post 170. Calling hours Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HMC Barberton Hospice, 527 W. Tuscarawas Ave., Barberton, OH 44203.

I was so sadden as I was going through the obits to hear of My dear friend Wendalls passing. My heart goes out to his family. I will be praying for you all. Wendell and my husband Ken use to go to train showes together. Wendell and I became fast friends after Kens passing. He and I were breakfast buddies he always enjoyed going for breakfast. The CAA, 20 Year Club membership and especially myself will sincerely miss our dear leader and friend. Wendell's quick wit, work ethic, compassion for others and love of family and God will be forever remembered. The Lawrence family has enjoyed a very special gift for many years. Our prayers are with you all.
