Wendy Wolfman Obituary

Wendy May Wolfman

Wendy May Wolfman, 58, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2015.

Wendy was born on March 11, 1957 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She grew up in and lived in Akron the majority of her life, spending about a decade in Jacksonville, Fla. in the 90s.

She was a customer service rep for Marriott International. Wendy had a strong work ethic, and this job was right up her alley because she loved talking to people and she loved staying in Marriott Hotels. Prior to Marriott, she worked at Denny's for over ten years, where she made a memorable impression on many customers and co-workers. Wendy graduated from The University of Akron in 1981, but her real goal was to become an actress/star. Although this wasn't fully realized, her claim to fame is that she was in Poltergeist III as a mirror double for one of the main characters (she's listed in the credits!).

Wendy loved to travel, spend time with friends, tell stories, entertain people and make them laugh, use coupons, shop at thrift stores, find bargains, eat out, bowl, watch the Cavs, go to the movies, and keep up on celebrity gossip. She absolutely loved dogs, and Chihuahuas and Pomeranians were her pets of choice.

She liked all things glitter, and shoes and accessories were her favorites.

Wendy was preceded in death by her beloved dad, Melvin Wolfman and sister, Barbara Wolfman, DVM. She is survived by her mom, Mary Wolfman, and sister, Mona Wolfman. She will truly be missed by her many friends and relatives.

Calling hours Monday, 4 to 7 p.m. at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Hilary Catholic Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to The Ohio State University Foundation (designate to the Dr. Barbara Ann Wolfman Memorial Scholarship Fund in Veterinary Medicine), and send to: The OSU Foundation, c/o Gift Processing, 1480 West Lane Ave., Columbus, OH 43221.

I got together with an old friend recently and while we were reliving "old times" Wendy's name came up. So saddened to hear of her passing. My friend and I remember Wendy from our days of being Cleveland Force fans. Wendy was certainly a sweet, unique individual whose spirit and unwavering positivity could change one's outlook in an instant. She definitely was a spark of light to those around her and made us laugh countless times over the course of our knowing her. I am saddened she is gone and my sincere condolences to her family.

I just did a google search trying to find Wendy, and found this. Breaks my heart to find out that I waited too late to search for Ms. Wendy. I knew Wendy when she lived in Jacksonville FL.. She was kind of my mentor in my pre-teen days. She definitely instilled the love of cinema, and theater in me. Wendy took me to so many movies (even the B-rate one). We would watch Entertainment Tonight, and read Entertainment Weekly religiously. Even though Wendy was only in my life for a short period of time she left a huge impact on me.

RIP WENDY.
Just got word of her passing through my St.Sebastian gradeschool alumni letter.

Didn't know her personally-but- knew her when I saw her around St.Sebastian School, with her mom- at the library, as we were in different year levels.

Also heard of her attempt to strike it in movies. I too left Akron for Hollywood but missed coming across her earthly journey.
Keep cheering them up in heaven, they took you too soon.

Mary, I am so very sorry to hear of Wendy's passing. I remember spending time with her when i was at the theater with my grandmother (Maggie Moore) or when you came to her summer picnics. She was a very kind and gentle soul who knew how to have fun and had a great sense of humor - much like Mel! She will be missed.

Such memories. I remember freshman intra mural volleyball. Yes, Wendy played every game (I was the captain) and we beat every freshman team: only lost in the finals against the sophomores. I miss her very much, such heart!

Mary and Mona - there aren't enough words to express my shock at Wendy's death. She was my friend growing up and we shared a lot in common so it's hard to realize that she isn't around anymore. I always admired your families unshakable faith and can only hope you realize that she isn't really gone. She is with Mel and Barbara catching up on gossip and you will see all of them again. I am so sorry Mary has had to go through the unspeakable pain of losing two daughters in her lifetime but I know your faith will see you through.

Dear Mary Wolfman, please accept my sympathy. Losing a child is the most difficult. I know. We lost one. I remember you as a friend of my wife, Margaret Kraus. Margaret died five years ago. May Wendy rest in peace.
