Wilbur D. Troutman, age 70, passed away Friay, Oct. 19, 2007 in Hartford, Connecticut. He fought a courageous battle against cancer.
Wilbur served proudly with the U.S. Marines 2nd Div. He was the owner of Building Closures Systems. Wilbur was a graduate of Garfield High School. He received his B.A. degree from UCLA Berkeley and his M.A. degree from San Francisco State College where he was a member of the faculty. He continued his education at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania while teaching political science and philosophy. He also was a faculty member at Western Connecticut State College. Wilbur was a leader in the community and always stood for what he believed. He was a member of the Civilian Review Board in Hartford, and Broadview Community advocates.
Wilbur was preceeded in death by his father, Lee Gilbert Troutman. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife Laurie; daughter, Lucca; mother, Colina Wells; sister, Sherry Johnson Jendrisak (Dr. Cyril); mother-in-law, Madeline MacAlpine; brothers-in-law, Tony and Christopher MacAlpine, Harlan Johnson (Beverly); and sister-in-law, Polly MacAlpine; nephews, Jeffrey Johnson (Jen), Tod Johnson; and nieces, Beth Ann Gabay (Eyal) Dr. Lisa Cousineau (Thomas), and Shannon Berenyi (Tim); aunts, Catherine Rocha (John) and Ann Hyle; many great-nephews and nieces, cousins, and many friends, especially his close friends, Dr. Richard Saluzzo, Michael Curry and Scott Gregory. Our thanks to Doc Ritchie for his love and care of Wilbur.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27th in the Chapel on the campus of Ethel Walker School, 230 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury, CT 07070. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Ethel Walker School Music Department at the above address or a charity of their choice.
