William Henterly Obituary

He was the loving husband of Karen (Abramczyk) and father of Katherine; son of the late William and Marian Henterly; dear brother of Marianne Henterly, Kathleeen McGreevy (Michael), Martha Glover (Terry) and Janet Chadwick (Marty). Bill retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent in 2008. After retirement, he started his own consulting firm. He graduated from Fairview High School and The University of Akron. He loved to research history and was especially fond of and grateful to his many friends and colleagues.

Bill was my roommate at the FBI Academy and my squad-mate In Las Vegas, our second-office assignment. He had a great sense of humor and was an amazing storyteller. Our big-office assignments parted our ways, and we had little subsequent contact for the remainder of our Bureau careers. Always upbeat and encouraging, Bill was also extremely intelligent. I miss those times. He made them. Blessings and Godspeed my brother.

Karen and Kathrine,
My husband and I are truely saddened by the passing of a wonderful friend, husband and father. We are truely greatful that Bill made such a big impact on our life. He was a very wonderful person inside and out. What a blessing he was to my husband and we are very greatful to have become friends with Karen and Bill throughout the years Bill will always hold a spot close to our hearts. He was one of the greatest people we ever had the chance to meet.

My deepest condolences go to Karen, Katherine, and Bill's entire family during this very difficult time. I knew Bill for 47 years he was my classmate (FHS '69), my boyfriend, and my cherished and trusted friend. I will always treasure the last visit I had with him when I flew back to Cleveland to spend a few hours with him on Feb. 20, where we reminisced about the past and talked of the future. Though he was very ill, he was strong, courageous, optimistic, and smiling. Billy, you accomplished your goal of living your last months in quiet dignity. You and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I will miss you. Rest in peace, my dear friend. DeAnn DeFord Judge

With sympathy and prayers from cousin Billy's family in Columbus. Uncle Jack and Aunt Barb are especially sad as they remember the little boy with the curls, sitting on Mom Henterly's lap -- many, many years ago.

I visited Bill at the Clinic about one week before his passing. Given the situation, he was in excellent spirits and he joked around with me, as he usually did. Despite our numerous co-authored FD-302s and after-work beers during my Cleveland years, we discussed the future more so than the past. Karen arrived and he even exercised by walking the hallways. He also talked very proudly about Katherine. And I always thought we would take another Las Vegas trip together . . . not to be.

My brothers and I lived next door to Bill's family for 20+ years. Bill was my best friend for all that time, as it seems like we played catch across the street at the Fairview High diamonds almost every day.

On behalf of my brothers Bob and Rick, my sincere condolences on your loss. I miss my buddy.

I am saddened to learn of Bill's passing. I have known Bill since being in the 5th grade at St. Angela grade school.
I would occasionally see Bill in Avon Lake at the bank, Giant Eagle, and sometimes grabbing a quick beer.
We exchanged stories, talked of family, and careers. He will be missed
