Terri Lee Ward Leonard, age 55, passed into the arms of Jesus on Feb. 22, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Beloved daughter of Marie Ward, Terri was born May 26, 1965, in Portsmouth, Ohio, where she spent her childhood before moving to Huntington, West Virginia, to earn a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology at Marshall University. Terri spent her professional career providing speech therapy services to nursing homes and schools, including the Meigs Local School District.
Although recent years were overshadowed by illness, Terri's family and friends are left with many cherished memories. She was first and foremost a devoted and fiercely protective mother to Kaitlin and Cori; loving them with her entire heart. Her gentle nature, sincerity of heart and deeply compassionate spirit made her a favorite to friends, family and her many patients. Terri's laughter was contagious and could easily infect an entire roomful of people. She was intelligent and fun-loving with an adventurous spirit; always ready for a shopping trip or travel to new places. Kaitlin and Terri were able to take a dream trip to Ireland, where they made memories for a lifetime.
Terri is survived by daughters Kaitlin Dewhurst Ramirez (husband Moy Ramirez) of Rutland and Cori Dewhurst of Holland, Ohio; grandchildren, Alayna Marie Lynn Ramirez and Bentley Jay Ramirez.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Rutland Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jordan Decker officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Terri's honor be made to the classroom of Jesse McKendree at Meigs Local Elementary. Donations can be made by a check addressed to Meigs Elementary PTO or by visiting www.donorschoose.org ("Helpful items for an amazing class; a project by Mr. Jesse")

I met Terri many years ago, when I started caring for Cori, we formed a great friendship. It had it's up and downs, but we enjoyed sitting on my porch, drinking our coffee, or taking walks and doing crafts together. I will treasure my memories and miss her greatly. RIP my friend.
