Alan Byrd Obituary

Alan Christopher Byrd was born in Oklahoma City on May 24, 1972 and went to be with God on September 19, 2001. He resided with his family in southern California. Alan was a member of the Grant Avenue Baptist Church of Redondo Beach, CA. His affectionate nature touched the hearts and lives of all those he met. His countless friends could depend on him to 'answer the call' whenever and wherever he was needed. Alan was a caring husband, a loving son and a special brother. However, his most important accomplishment in life was his beautiful sons to whom he was a wonderful and devoted father, giving freely of his time to join them in fun and play. Though Alan's family and friends hearts now ache for their loss, they are ever thankful that his love and spirit touched their lives for a time, take comfort and rejoice in knowing that he has seen the face of God and will forever live with him in heaven. Alan is survived by his wife Christina; sons Justin and Cody and stepson Tyler all of Torrance, CA; mother, Woneta of Lawndale, CA; father, Richard of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Traci and nephew, Tyler both of Oklahoma City; grandparents Charles and Ruth Ellyson of Oklahoma City and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A celebration of Alan's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK, on Friday, September 28, 2001. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.

Alan is my cousin. I remember him being sweet and small. I know he grew up to be a good person and a good father. He will be missed. When it seems as though our prayers are not reaching heaven's throne, When doubt dims our faith like shadows in the night, We can look beyond the problems of the moment to God's power We can trust Him in the darkness or the light. Rest in Peace Alan. Love Kim

Alan was the youngest of six cousins, I was the oldest, protective and bossy. We grew up more like brothers and sisters than cousins.

Alan was a beautiful man, brilliant and the most loving and caring when it came to being a father.

We will all miss him terribly while treasuring the memories and thank God for allowing us to have had the time with him that we did.

Remembering my wedding day, Alan wasn't even in the ceremony but spent the first few moments in the bathroom throwing up from nerves.

I miss you, our emails, love you and will stay in touch with Christina and the boys.

Rest well Alan.
