Bill Blevins Obituary

Bill Blevins
Bill Blevins passed in the loving arms of his devoted wife Marsha and alongside their son Brandon. The past 5.5 years Bill courageously battled the results of two major strokes.
Bill was born December 20, 1950, in Little Rock, ARK. Bill was a standout athlete at Norman High School where he was QB and led the NHS track team to the 1969 Oklahoma HS State Championship. A sprinter, after winning Boomer Conference in the 100-yard dash and 220, he finished second in the 100 at the state meet, 3rd in the 220, anchored the second place 440-relay and made up a stunning 25 yards during his leg of the second-place mile relay team, winning Norman the state title. That performance went a long way in Bill signing a track scholarship with OU in 1969.
After graduation from OU in 1975, Bill enjoyed success as a coach/teacher and then in the oil and gas industry as a Land Man. He was exceptionally smart, organized, humble, witty, positive and in work and life was loved for his kind spirit.
Bill married the love of his life Marsha Thompson in 1983. He was a devoted husband to his extraordinary wife, with whom he often laughed and provided a loving home environment. He coached Brandon's teams, and loved watching his golf tournaments, especially alongside adoring grandparents Dexter and Claudine. Bill treasured time spent with daughter Britney, especially when she helped him work traveling throughout the state and listening to sports talk and politics on radio.
Bill savored countless hours spent with brothers Paul and Dean, involved in sports, the church, or fraternizing with friends of all three. The three spent every Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night at the churches where Rev. Blevins preached.
In the end, the three most important things in Bill's life were God, family and country.
Bill is survived by Marsha, Brandon, Britney, her husband David Warden and their 4 children. Brothers Paul (wife Tina), Dean (wife Sarah) and their children. Marsha's brother Terry Thompson and wife Sue, & sister Debbie.
A Celebration of Life service will be 2pm Friday at Bethel Baptist in Norman.
