Bob Farley Obituary
Bob Farley, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. He was 87. Bob was born May 31, 1922 to John Clifford and Martha Dell Farley in Alvarado, Texas. He married Mary Ellen Wood on March 15, 1947. Together, they had three sons - John Clifford, James Philip and Timothy Joe.Bob lived most of his adult life in the Oklahoma City metro area and worked 35 years as a sales and marketing representative for Be-Mac Transport Company before retiring in 1990. Actually, Bob never retired. He soon went to work for Primrose Funeral Home, became a licensed minister and performed numerous funeral services, while at the same time extending his compassion toward the families during their time of need.During his life, Bob was a member of the Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Free Masons and was an elder at the 31st and Penn Church of Christ congregation in Oklahoma City.In 1971, Bob and Mary took their sons and placed membership at Mayfair Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. Bob remained a member at Mayfair for more than 30 years.His biggest sorrow in life was the untimely death of his sweetheart, Mary, who died January 16, 1987 at the age of 58. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Iva Jones; sister, Vivian Ross; and a brother, Bates Farley.He is survived by his sons: John Clifford and wife, Claudette, of Houston, Texas; James Philip and wife, Bunny, of Yukon, OK; and Timothy Joe and wife, Gail, of Choctaw, OK. He is also survived by brother, Ira Savern Farley of Oklahoma City; sister Bessie Rutledge of Yukon; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The grandchildren are Brian Farley, of Houston, Texas; Rebecca Farley Aronson of Houston, Texas; Nick Farley of Yukon; Melissa Farley of Yukon; Lindsey Farley of Bethany and Josh Farley of Yuriria, Mexico.Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 3, 10 a.m., at Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany, OK. Viewing will be Tuesday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in northwest Oklahoma City.
