Bob Ledbetter Obituary

Bob Ledbetter, 72, of Moore, was called home by his Lord and Saviour on April 8, 2010. Bob was born on May 21, 1937, in Gotebo, Oklahoma, to Andrew and Jessie Ledbetter. In 1955, Bob graduated from Cloud Chief High School and attended the University of Oklahoma on a basketball scholarship for 1 year, until he suffered a knee injury and moved to California. In the 1970s, Bob returned to Oklahoma City and worked as an oilfield pipe-inspector, where he eventually met and married Melva, his wife of 27 years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Dennis, Leo, and Jimmy Ledbetter. He is survived by: his beloved wife, Melva Ledbetter; his stepson, Jeff Baugus, and wife, Kay; his stepdaughter, Lisa Kays, and husband, Sky; his four grandchildren, Chris and Jordan Evans and Ashley and Rebecca Kays; and his 5 sisters, Lois Gillard, Earlene Butler, June Fenn, Judy Dymond, and Betty Selle and husband Darwin; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.Bob adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather and friend, and he will be greatly missed. Services to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 12, at Brookwood Baptist Church, where he was a member. Interment to follow at Moore Cemetery. Services are under direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.

Uncle Bob, Thanks for all the fun we had together when I was little. You used to call me your "Little Go-Go Dancer" (early 70's) when I'd give an impromtu dance recital in the living room at Grandma's. We'd run errands together and you more than filled the "Cool Uncle" requirement . . . so much FUN! I'm working hard to get to heaven so I'll catch up with you then!!
