Over the years, I have come to this page and read and re-read the remembrances of you, my friend. I think of you often, and for your family, know that Brendan's memory lives on in those of us who were fortunate enough to serve along side him and call him our friend. The impact that he has had, and continues to have on my life cannot be measured, but know that I carry him in my heart every day. God bless you, my brother. Scalp 'em all.

Not a day goes by that I do not think about you, and crazy enough that I have never knew about his page. You are always inside of my head and when I talk about leadership you are the first person I think of . You have inspired me to always push myself as far as I can,and hoping I have made you proud in some way. I love and miss you brother. Forever 2-1Angry

Ecclesiastes 12: 6&7
6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

I come here alot to read about all the people who love you. I love you! You are my first love. What I wouldn't give for one more night drinking beer on the roof, or dancing in you kitchen while you make dinner, or being woke up with a kiss and coffee before you went to work. Although I can't go back in time I am so glad to have known you.

I learned a lot of what it meant to be an NCO from you man. I didn't even know you'd passed on until recently. Ran into another guy that knew you and he told me. Last time I spoke to you was at McGregor. Hope you found peace man. One of the best Infantrymen I ever had the privelage of knowing.

I come here from time to time to read the messages from others. I guess it helps me remember you in some ways. I find it funny that someone else wrote about drinking on the roof as we had done the same a few times. You are missed Bren. Love you bro.

I miss and love you just as much as I ever have. You are my first love and there is a piece of my heart that I can never give away cause it will always be yours. What I would give for one more two step in the living room or beer on the roof.

I came across a journal at a little thrift store and bought it because it was green. It turns out, it was your old journal. I wanted to find you, see how you were. I'm sorry you passed on before I could really know you. But I'll never forget you.

From Rhymes of a Red Cross Man, 1916
Young Fellow My Lad
" Where are you going, Young Fellow My Lad,
On this glittering morn of May?"
"I'm going to join the Colours, Dad;
They're looking for men, they say."
"But you're only a boy, Young Fellow My Lad;
You are'nt obliged to go."
" I'm seventeen and a quarter, Dad,
and ever so strong, you know."
"So you're off to France, Young Fellow My Lad,
And you're looking so fit and bright."
"I'm terribly sorry to leave you, Dad,
But I feel that I'm doing right."
"God bless you and keep you, Young Fellow My Lad,
You're all of my life, you know."
"Don't worry. I'll be back, dear Dad,
And I'm awfully proud to go."
"Why don't you write, Young fellow My Lad?
I watch for post each day;
And I miss you so, and I'm awfully sad,
And it's months since you went away.
And I've had the frie in the parlour lit,
And I'm keeping it burning bright
Till my boy comes home; and here i sit
Into the quiet night."
"What is the matter, Young Fellow My Lad?
No letter again to-day.
Why did the postman look so sad,
And sighed as he went away?
I hear them tell that we've gained new ground,
But a terrible price we've paid:
God grant, my boy, That you're safe and sound;
But Oh I'm afraid, afraid."
"They've told me the truth, Young Fellow my Lad:
You'll never come back again:
(Oh God! The dreams and the dreams I've had,
And the hopes I've nursed in vain!)
For you passed in the night, Young Fellow My Lad,
And you proved in the cruel test
Of the screaming shell and battle hell
That my boy was one of the best.
"So you'll live, you'll live, Young Fellow my Lad,
In the gleam of the evening star'
In the wood-note wild and the laugh of a child,
In all sweet things that are.
And you'll never die, my wonderful boy,
While life is noble and true;
For all our beauty and hope and joy
We will owe to Lads like you."
Miss you brother

Hey Bren.
Just got a book from Mr. Palmer, yesterday. Some publisher decided to put something together to celebrate the National Guard in it's entirety. Each state has a couple pages dedicated to them and some pictures showing off their soldiers. They chose you to be the face of the Oklahoma National Guard. It's the picture of you rappelling face-first down the tower in New Mexico .. just because you could. I'm not too terribly sure many people are at all surprised you ended up the poster child for Oklahoma soldiers. It's pretty fitting that the view is looking up to you... that's what a lot of us did. You were the best of us. I miss you, Bren.
I love you!

I don't think words alone can express what I'm feeling at the moment. To have this feeling of emptiness, loss. I haven't seen Brendan in nearly ten years and haven't talked with him in a year or so. However a big part of me, of who I am, is because of Brendan McCoy. I knew him before he became the man many of you grew to know and love. He was a boy with dreams and goals. I'll never forget the nights we spent doing nothing more than talking. Sitting on the railroad tracks or on his roof in Marlow. We had some good times and some deep soul searching talks. He was the first person to ever gain my full respect. A moment in time that I'll never forget. One summer in '97 that will forever live in my thoughts. I can't express how great a loss this is for people such as myself. People whose lives were touch before he ever grew to become a man. I miss our talks and I miss the boy whom I'll forever consider a brother.

My surrogate son, you leave giving me the warmth of knowing a unique person. Not just only a true soldier that I would go to war with knowing that my 6 was covered, but having shared a period and space in time with a true enigma, you have brought out so many emotions in us, so many happy memories that I wish could have continued to be here and now. I'll see you on Gods roll call, will have a drink with all our Joes, and have another good time.

I was "McCoy's" 1SG at Ft Drum. He was my right hand man from Egypt through Afghanistan. He made me laugh so much and drove me nuts all the time. I know he was physically strong because of me ha ha! I loved him like a son. He was a great soldier and friend. He was a Ranger without a tab. What a terrible loss. I will truly miss him. My condolences go out to his family and friends. The Big Airborne Ranger in the sky has a true warrior with him now! God Bless!

I only met Brendan one time and that was his return from Iraq. He and my son Tony Bray were there together. Brendan and I did email back and forth from time to time. I know when I met him he was so personable. He was an example of a fine fine young man, a true soldier. Brendan, you didn't know it but you made an impact on me that day and I was so proud to have met you. You touched people and never knew it. God bless you. God bless your family and friends. And thank you Brendan for your service to our country, God Bless America.

I did not personally know you, but to know that you served our country in these difficult times speaks a great deal about your courage and selfless service. Rest in peace.
