Bryan Russell Obituary

FCSN Bryan Patrick Russell, 29, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at Great Lakes Navy Training Center in Chicago, Illinois. Bryan was the youngest son of Steve Russell and Meg Flynn Young, born August 27, 1980. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Bryan graduated from Putnam City High School in 1999. He attended college at OSU/OKC and worked as a top sales representative at ADT Home Security, where he earned national recognition prior to joining the Navy in July, 2008. Recently, Bryan graduated with honors from his "A" school at the Great Lakes Naval Station. As a child, Bryan played little league baseball and soccer. He enjoyed many impromptu ball games in the cul-de-sac outside his home. He was on the Putnam City High School golf team and was an exceptional, naturally talented golfer. He loved watching OU football games, playing with his dog, Graycee, and spending time with the people he cared about. Bryan had a heart of gold and was very protective and proud of his family and friends. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be deeply missed. He will always be admired for his strength, generosity and courage, and he will be remembered for his lovable smile and playful humor that characterized Bryan so well. Bryan is survived by his father and step-mother, Steve and Tracey Russell of Oklahoma City; mother, Meg Flynn Young of Springfield, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen C. and Whitney Russell of Tulsa; sisters, Jamie Russell of Gillette, WY and Taylor Crawford of Norman; grandmother, Darleen Ford of Springfield, MO; grandfather, Kenneth Stewart of Oklahoma City; nieces, Britton and Bella Russell of Tulsa; and several uncles, aunts and cousins. Bryan was preceded in death by his grandfather, James B. Russell; grandmother, Margene Stewart; grandfather, William J. Flynn; and aunt, Carol J. Taylor. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 13th, from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A funeral service with military honors will be held Monday, September 14th, at 2:00 p.m., at the Hahn-Cook Chapel. As a tribute to Bryan's love for dogs, donations may be sent to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society at 9300 N. May Ave., Suite 400-281, Oklahoma City, OK 73120, where a memorial fund in Bryan's name has been established. Tributes may be shared at www.mem.com
