CECIL JOHNSON

1955 - 2019

May 4, 1955 - December 31, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY Cecil Ray Johnson, Jr., age 63, returned to the Lord peacefully, following a courageous battle with cancer in Oklahoma City on December 31, 2018. Cecil was born on May 4, 1955 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Cecil Ray Johnson, Sr., and Sherry (Turnbow) Johnson. He graduated from high school at Southeast High in Oklahoma City in 1973. He excelled in baseball and went on to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma, studying business. He came to know the Lord as a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. Cecil spent many years as a successful land man in the Oil and Gas Industry, as well as Real Estate. He was known for his good looks, outgoing demeanor, friendliness, loyalty, and of course, his shoe collection. Cecil never met a stranger. He had a knack for remembering people's names, even after only meeting them once. He was a competitive softball player, golfer and bowler. He enjoyed coaching his children's basketball teams, and attending every sporting event of theirs he could. Cecil was preceded in death by his grandmothers Glee Turnbow and Inez Johnson, his grandfather Guy Johnson, and his father Cecil Ray Johnson, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Sherry Wilson, his sister, Celia Smythe, his wife of 25 years, Teresa Johnson, and his three children, C. Ryan Johnson and wife Stacy, Cassidy R. Johnson, and Nicholas B. Johnson, as well as his niece, Kallie Myers and husband Craig. Those whose lives were touched by Cecil are invited to attend a celebration of his life from 1-4 pm, Sunday, January 6, at the home of Sherry Wilson.
