Charlie was a sweet man, never complained about his life, his health, or anything. He was always cordial and loved to tell me about his work and friends at the hospital. God bless.

Charlie was such a great gentle spirit. I enjoyed getting to know him over the last few years and helping him any way he would allow me to. He would never ask for anything and was grateful for everything in his life. What a fighter, what a true gentleman who lived life with integrity. Heaven has gained a wonderful man!

Charlie and I have been friends for many years. We once were roommates over on 27th Street. He had a BIG BIG heart for the friends he loved and he will most certainly be missed. I love you Charlie!

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you. Charlie never let anything slow him down. I always looked forward to Charlie's smiling face when he came in for his appointments. I'll miss you Charlie! xoxo Mechelle Williams (OKC)

Hey Charlie, We first met at Memorial Park; you were 9 & I was 7. We played & even worked together at Transcon Freight. Those dock foremans said you were the hardest working dockhand that they had ever seen. Those PUD (city) drivers hated you because you loaded their trucks so heavy. You've fought many battles in this life; and only lost this one. Eventually, all of us will lose this final episode. Farewell my Friend!

Charlie Bassett is my hero...literally. Back in the 60's, he saved the life of me and my very young son when an intruder, unknown to me, tried to break into my home with murderous intent. Charlie came home from work just in time to confront him. Charlie took a stab wound to the chest which resulted in a collapsed lung. He survived, received a commendation from the OKC police department and accolades from the public. The intruder, on parole at the time, was caught and sent to jail. I will forever be grateful to Charlie and he'll remain in my heart forever.

What a wonderful and courageous man Charlie was, a true friend. I will always remember his great smile and helping hand. A true pioneering spirit, a member of a lost breed. I will truly miss you Charlie. Gary Loessin
