CHARLES ROWLAND

1931 - 2017

Oct. 28, 1931 - Nov. 20, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY November 20, 2017 brought to a close 86 years of a life well lived for Charles "Chuck" Edward Rowland. Chuck was born October 28, 1931 in Tulsa, OK, the only son of Rosa Lee and Frank Oscar Rowland. After moving to Oklahoma City, Chuck attended Capitol Hill High School and was a part of the 1949 State Champion football team. An avid bowler, Chuck was a member on the India Shrine Bowlers Unit, as well as a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, and loved playing dominos. An alumnus of The University of Oklahoma, Chuck was a longtime Sooner fan. While serving our country in the United States Marine Corps Chuck earned two Purple Heart medals during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Lee and Frank Rowland. Chuck is survived by wife, Kay Rowland of the home; sons, Steve Rowland and Jimmy Rowland; daughter, Cindi Rowland; grandchildren, Ryan Rowland and wife Rachel, Matthew Rowland, Randi Penner and husband Cody; great-grandchildren, Jayden Storie and Kolten Rowland. Visitation for Chuck will be Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Resthaven Funeral Home from 1-8pm with family present to receive friends from 5-7pm. Services to celebrate his life will be 2:00pm Friday, November 24, 2017, in The Chapel at Resthaven. Services have been entrusted to the care of Resthaven Funeral Home and Memory Gardens.
