Charles David Sackett
Yukon - Charles David Sackett was born on January 18, 1944, to Lowell Robert Sackett and Mary Frances (Bray) Sackett in Pensacola, FL, being a premature twin, whose brother, Lowell Robert Sackett, Jr. was stillborn. He passed away peacefully at his home in Yukon on March 28, 2021, surrounded by family. The family moved to Oklahoma in 1953 and to Yukon in 1961. David graduated from Yukon High School being a track athlete who set the school record for the mile run in 1963 with a 4:34.4 minute mile. He documented over 35,000 miles of running and walking since high school. Following graduation, he worked at Aero Commander, joined the Oklahoma Air National Guard, retiring after 22 years and retired as a quality assurance specialist at FAA in 2002 after 33 years. David joined Yukon Church of the Nazarene in 1963, serving in many capacities including the church board, choir member, played on softball team, mowed the church grounds, helped with Wednesday meals and helped move numerous members over the years. He received the church's Distinguished Service Award in 1981 for 10 years in the bus ministry. David coached youth soccer teams from 1976 to 1984, having several championship teams. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid OU fan watching many games and drinking Dr. Pepper with family and friends across the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, and brother, Robert Sackett. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty; sons, Scott (Michelle) and Chris; and daughter, Jeannie (Chris) Frizzell. He was Buddy Papa to grandsons, Ethan (Kristopher), Austin, David (Dezz), Wade and Anthony (Anna) and granddaughter, Destiny, (Brenden). His great grandchildren include; Lincoln and Madilynn Frizzell, Ellie Jade Probst, and Christian Maldonado. He also leaves his sister, Brenda Kathryn Newcombe, Pensacola, FL; brothers, Larry (Dollie) Sackett, Mustang, and Michael (Vicki) Sackett, Pearland, TX; sister, Susan (Tim) Lynch, Fresno, CA, and brothers, Lowell (Gwen) Sackett, Oklahoma City, and John (Von) Davis of Edmond, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews and other family members. Many thanks to the care givers at Home Instead and Visiting Angels and Traditions Health Hospice for their loving care during the past months. You may pay your respects from 1 pm–8 pm, Friday, April 2, 2021 at the funeral home. Celebration of life services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Yukon First Church of the Nazarene, 525 E. Main, Yukon, OK, with burial following at Frisco Cemetery.
