Im sad to hear of Chef's passing. He just crossed my mind and I thought I would look him up. Over 30 years ago, I worked for him in Okc. A short time but long enough to learn he was a great boss and good person. The only guy I've ever walked off a job for due to how they treated him. You're safe now and feeling no pain; hopefully, in the best prep kitchen the afterlife has to offer! xoxo Jen

John,
There are so many reminders of you around us, from our love for The Savoy to the boxes of wine I keep in the frig continually! So glad we were able to visit several times after you & Amber moved to St. Joe & KC. We'll remember you always, and keep up with that vivacious & loving wife of yours! See you again.

One of the things I remember most about John was his great attitude and positive outlook on life. He had this "presence" that just made you feel good when you were around him. His passion for food, and the way he honored his profession lights up like a billboard when I see his name. A wonderful man, and one who made this world better for his being here. Ciao, John Ci si vede di nuovo! Gary (Guariglia) Good

One of the best jobs in my radio career was being your producer when you and Amber were on KTOK in OKC. The friendship, of course the food, and shared passion, correction, Geeky Passion for music. Us seeing Bob Dylan in concert at The Zoo, and that fantastic record collection you had. A collection so good I told you I was moving in.
As they said, "In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."

John since your passing there has not been a day gone by that I haven't thought of a lesson you taught me. Be it from the time at the cafe, cooking my prom dinner, moving your seemingly endless collections from the Barnard House, or just sitting in the basement you never ceased to teach me of the world, of cooking, and most importantly finding myself. Whenever I go to sit at a restaurant I think of "what would John think of this place?" You also never failed to give me insight and motivation in staying strong, even on the road to passing before your time you were still among the healthiest people I know. You are still one of my dearest role models and it has been an honor to inherit one of your coats.
See you soon, John.

John, there was a time in the beginning of my marriage to Jim that I would phone him to see if he would be home for dinner. Then phone you to see if you would be home for dinner, always hoping you would as I knew we would have a better meal that I could prepare. Over the years, almost 40, I became a really good cook due to your influence. We had some wonderful times together in the kitchen. They will always be remember with fondness. You taught one of my sons to be passionate about cooking, he still is. The other son you taught how to eat with a willingness to try new foods! Your creative cooking will be missed but mostly I will miss you. Hugs and Love, Rhonda

John, The time we spent together was more than minutes or hours it was tresure. I learned from you in the beginning then we were friends and soon contemporaries. I never thought bad of you not even for a second. Your life touched so many. Your smile made everyone feel at ease. Man there is so much I want to say. I love you and will miss you very much! Large William!

John - Thank you for sharing your talents and skills with me. I learned so much from you in the 14 years we've known each other. In this season of thankfulness, I am so thankful our paths crossed in Oklahoma as well as Missouri. So, what is it like to hug Jesus, my friend? RIP.

I miss you DiGi my sweet boy. You changed my life and taught me how to love. You made me a better person. Your gift for life and touching the lives of others was nothing short of remarkable. We traveled the World and saw things we never thought we would and dined like a King and Queen. Sweet sailing my love.

On our most special day of the year, the anniversary of our first date.
