Clyde Basham Obituary

Clyde Warner left this world on January 16, 2005. He was born on December 06, 1910 in Guymon, Oklahoma. His parents were Myrtle 'Dixie' Mahew Basham and Napoleon Columbus 'N.C.' Basham. Warner grew up and went to school in Elk City, OK and college in Norman and Stillwater, Oklahoma. On May 18, 1941 Warner and Edith Marie Stambaugh were married in St. Luke's Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Where they first met each other and attended the Beacon Class then continued as members through their lives. Warner was the engineer in charge of the U.S. Navy Fuel Depot at Norfolk, V.A. in charge from 4:00 PM to midnight each day. On April 22, 1946 the U.S. Navy awarded Warner a Certificate for his essential WWII war time service in recognition of his service to the Navy and to the Country. He fueled the USS Missouri Battle Ship the moment it returned from the signing of the surrender of Japan on its decks in Tokyo Harbor September 2, 1945. He and his wife Edith were in the real estate business in Oklahoma. He lived beyond the time of the passing of his wife Edith on July 18, 2001, after they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at their home in Oklahoma City on May 18, 2001. The photo herewith shows Warner at Thanksgiving 2004 dinner when he was on the revolving part of Nikz Restaurant on the top of the 20 story United Founders Tower above Oklahoma City. Where he enjoyed a lengthy dinner and seeing the sights with members of his family who now survive him: his 2 great grandsons Andrew Warner Basham and Ian Carter Basham, his grandson DeWayne W. 'Dane' Basham II, his daughter-in-law Cherie Basham, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and his son DeWayne W. Basham of Thomas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On Christmas Day 2004 Warner enjoyed Christmas Dinner with his family at Dane's home in Tulsa. Together with Cherie's sister Jeniffer Moore from NYC, Cherie's mother Gail Moore and Cherie's father Bill Moore from California. Warner is also survived by Dane's mother Janie Salyer and her husband Brad Salyer and Stephanie Salyer, Dane's sister who considered Warner and Edith her grandparents and they loved her as their own grand daughter. Stephanie visited the family and Warner at his home in recent times. Warner was preceded in passing by his wife Edith Marie Basham, his sister Verna Mae Basham Cross whose mother was also Dixie Basham, his father Napoleon Columbus 'NC' Basham born on August 11, 1860 near Richardsville, Warren County, Kentucky who passed on February 28, 1957 in Lake Worth, Florida near Palm Beach, Florida his brother and nephew of Lake Worth, Florida Earnest Basham and Earnest Basham, JR. and his sisters Grace Basham, Irene Basham and Ruth Basham whose mother was Nora I. ASH who was born on 18 Feb 1886 in Mulberry, Crawford County, Kansas. A memorial service will be at 1:00 P.M. on January 19, 2005 at the Lockstone Funeral Home Chapel at 210 North Custer, Weatherford, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited. Warner was and is loved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. His spirit, though now in a higher place, will be with us forever.

Warner was clear in dialogue in his last few days to say for his family and friends to be satisfied with their experiences in life and to not worry. His faith was strong and brought him comfort. He is now in a higher place.
