David Burns Obituary

On August 15, 2010, David Burns peacefully joined his Savior after a brave battle against cancer while surrounded by his family. His life touched so many people that there is no room to summarize it here. He exemplified his faith by walking the walk. Kairos Prison Ministry and Good Shepherd Hospice are just two of the ministries he was committed to. He loved his church family at Resurrection Free Methodist Church and always was more than willing to help with any need. Nothing made him happier than to spend time with his family, especially his 5 granddaughters and 1 grandson. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Loraine Shiflet and his niece Hillary Shiflet. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Trudie; his son Craig and wife Denise and their 3 children Kayleigh, Madeline, and Fletcher; and his daughter Kristi Hess, her husband Rodney and their 3 children Devon, Megan and EmiLee; his brother John E. Shiflet and wife Karen; and his sister Peggy Hudiburg and husband Roger; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Resurrection Free Methodist Church, 6000 N. MacArthur in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to The Children's Center in Bethany, OK.
