DAVID RICKARD Obituary

Sept. 19, 1965 - Sept. 17, 2016 KATY, TEXAS David Glenn Rickard, 50, of Katy, passed away on September 17, 2016. David was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on September 19, 1965. He attended Abilene Christian University and then Oklahoma University, where he earned a law degree. Throughout his life, David was a thoughtful, quiet, and philosophical Christian man who loved his family and God. He also loved golfing, the OU Sooners, watching most any sport, debating politics and theology, and most of all, his family. He had a passion for music and could often be found watching music videos in his home office, drumming along on his desk. He is preceded in death by his niece Lauren Roach Hawthorne. He is survived by his wife Susan, his daughters Melissa Rickard and Jessica Rickard of Katy, his parents Darrel and Judy Rickard of Oklahoma City, his sister and brother-in-law Lisa and John Mincey of Edmond, Oklahoma, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Mayfair Church of Christ in Oklahoma City on Saturday, September 24, followed by a burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David's name to the Lauren Elise Roach Hawthorne Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lubbock Christian University (Attn: LCU Advancement, 5601 19th Street, Lubbock, TX 79407).

I am in utter disbelief. I went to Mayfair Church of Christ as a kid and knew David and Lisa. Praying for the family and all close.

David was the epitome of all that is good. He was deeply spiritual and always pondering the meaning of life and its mysteries. David was rare in so many ways, and the world will not be the same without him. I am blessed to have known David and called him my friend. I am profoundly sad for all of you.

Our family has been at a loss. We keep asking why? He was a 'strong and gentle giant'. We keep praying for the family. Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, but My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, and My covenant of peace will not be shaken, says the Lord who has compassion on you.
