Daddy, it has been just over a year since we lost you and I miss you so much. I think about you every day. Sometimes I cry because I miss you so, sometimes I smile - remembering something you said or did. Lots of wonderful memories. Wish you could have stayed with us, but I know you are free of pain now. You have another new grandson - Xavier, who is just turning 9 months old. You would have liked him a lot - he smiles all the time. You took care of us all for so many years and I know you still are watching out for us today. I love you, Daddy.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Pa,I thank God for you being in my life. You taught me so much from how to use a tool to being organized on anything I had in life. Not every girl knows how to use a table saw, hammer a nail, build a cabinet and closet, or work under a car at age 9. My small hands at times were just as black with grease or dirt as yours were. You always knew I was ready to do anything with you and for you. I will always treasure those times and many more we had together. You will be loved, missed and thought of for the rest of my life.

Daddy, I going to miss you terribly. You were always there if I ever needed anything and you taught me more than I ever realized while growing up. I love you so much, but someday we'll be reunited. You were America's hero and you will always be my hero.

We had good times and bad times but the good times outweighed the bad. Anytime I wanted something you always got it for me. If I wanted to go somewhere you were always ready. I couldn't have wanted a better husband.

Love forever,

Minnie
