I would like to sincerely Thank all of Dusty's friends and family for all the prayers and thoughts during this difficult time in our lives. Although we still grieve it is time to replace the sorry with smiles at all the wonderful memories we have of Dusty. All the silly things he used to do and the many escipades he got himself into. The grieve will eventually turn into warm memories and smiles with some laughter mixed in. Remember that wonderful soul is with Jesus now and smiling at us. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for all the comfort and outpouring of love during our loss.
Sincerely,

Chad & Jessica Catrucco

Dustin I don't even know where to begin. You were such a sweetheart and you were my husband's best friend up at Drum. I just broke the news to Chad and he started crying instantly even though you two haven't talked much since Drum he loves you so much. Chad still tells me stories of you two...Infact he actually was telling me about a little squable you two got into a few years back, but y'all always hugged it out. We'll miss you and you will always live on in our hearts. We will be praying for your' family. Rest in peace Bubba. Love Chad & Jessica Catrucco

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Dusty Smith our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Dusty. And to Dusty it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during Operation Enduring Freedom while deployed with the U.S. Army. Dusty, you are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Dusty's family and loved ones.

Dustin was only a part of our life for a very short time but during that time he managed to make a special place in our hearts and we will miss him very much. When Dustin came home to Massachusetts on leave he helped me clear my rock garden and it was so much work I just don't know how I would have done it alone. Now as I look at that garden every day I see a part of you that will be with us forever and for that I am very thankful. My heart goes out to his family I can only imagine the pain and loss they must feel so I pray that God holds you close to his and brings you comfort knowing that now he is holding Dustin in his loving arms.
