EDWARD ECKENSTEIN Obituary

Edward Eckenstein
August 10, 1955 - January 2, 2021

OKLAHOMA CITY
Edward Eckenstein, age 65, was a wonderful, fun-loving husband and father who took
great pride in sharing about his wife and son. He passed away suddenly on January 2, 2021. Edward was born in Evergreen Park, IL to John Eckenstein and Dolores Eckenstein. Edward married Ruth, the love of his life, on December 31, 1986 in Oklahoma City and has one son, Nicholas. He was so proud of the man he had become and would always let you know what was happening in Nick's and Ruth's worlds. He was preceded in death by John Eckenstein (Father) and Dolores Eckenstein (Mother). He has two brothers, Tony Eckenstein and John Eckenstein, Jr., and one sister and a brother-in-law, Patti and Dan Murphy. He had a large family on his wife's side; Vesta and Cecil Brooks, Ramona and Gary Poupard, Richard McNulty, and Jimmy and Donna McNulty. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. He had many friends, which he enjoyed by going to lunch and finding out what they were doing. He finished Master's Degrees in Online Education and Hydrogeology. He was a lover of life. He willingly gave of his time and efforts at the Oklahoma City Memorial doing First Person talks about his experiences as a survivor of the OKC Bombing. He also volunteered at the Oklahoma City Suicide Hotline. He recently talked about getting a dog, wanted to learn how to ride a horse, and enjoyed traveling. He was busy getting a new company started with his wife and enjoyed working with computers. Due to the COVID crisis, there will not be a service at this time. A 'Celebration of Life' will occur after it is safe to be in large groups. Cremation will follow at Oklahoma Mortuary Service in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Edward's favorite charities were the Oklahoma City Memorial and the Prostate Cancer Research Institute. To share condolences, visit www.mercer-adams.com
