Elouise McCarty Obituary

Elouise Hopwood McCarty Elouise was born in Okemah, OK. on January 27, 1917 and passed away in Dallas, TX on April 6, 2005. After graduating from Okemah HS she moved to OKC to attend Hills Business College. She married on her birthday in 1939 to Paul J. McCarty who preceded her in death in 1972. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude, and step-father, Frank Gaghagen and father William Lester Hopwood. Her only son, George, preceded her in death in 2003. She worked for several insurance companies and after retirement, worked part-time for several local Doctors' offices. She was a devoted mother and wife, participating in her children's school and church activities. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years. She lived in OKC until the year 2000 when she moved to Dallas, TX. to be near her children and their families. She had a witty sense of humor which she shared with everyone and although she will be sorely missed, we are blessed with the wonderful memories we have of our Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother (GG), Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. She is survived by her daughters, Paula and husband Gene Holman of Dallas, Kay and husband Lt Col (Ret) R. Keith Ogden, Jr., USA, of Dallas, grandchildren, Kathy and husband Scott Lacey of Dallas, Sean Hills and wife Jeanie of Branson, Mo., and Kayla McCarty of Dallas; five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Georgia, and Chance Lacey of Dallas, Cade McCarty Houghlin of Dallas, and Jacob Hills of Branson, Mo., cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-law and many friends who were very special to her. A memorial graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, OKC, on Sat. April 30, 2005 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical and Research Foundation, 825 N.E. 13th, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104 or to the charity of choice.

Dear Mrs. McCarty,

Today I met some of your family from Texas and Missouri at the memorial site of my daughter Hannah McCarty in Oklahoma City. Though we have the same last name, as far as we know we aren't related. But I'm sure you've met my daughter as she too is in Heaven. And now I have met your family, and we may never see each other again this side of Heaven, but we will definitely see you there someday, and what a glorious day that will be.

(I found your guestbook because Hannah's is online too.)

Sincerely,
