Imogene Stuhr Obituary

B. Imogene Stuhr was born in Moore, OK, June 30, 1911, to Henry and Anna Dreessen and passed away at Odyssey House in Oklahoma City April 4, 2009. She spent her formative years in Moore. At Moore High School, she was a star basketball player. She also played the clarinet in the high school band. She learned to play the piano at an early age and later learned to play the organ. She was also accomplished at playing the harmonica. During high school, she worked at the Moore Telephone Co. and after graduation went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone, where she retired after 36 years. During the latter years with SBC, she purchased a poodle and became interested in dog grooming. She started the "Dreessen Poodle Grooming" business, which she had for 25 years. Imogene was an avid golfer and played at Lake Hefner in the 9 Hole Group until age 95. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Moore Alumni Association, Rotary Anns, and Christ the King Catholic Church. Imogene was a very dynamic lady who was always interested in others. She was preceded in death by her parents brother, Howard Dreessen and wife Lorena and sisters, Coletta Ulrich and husband Kenneth, and Mickey Calhoun and husband Walt. She is survived by sisters, Rita Eaves and husband Leonard, and Bernita Thornhill and husband Cecil, all of Oklahoma City nieces and nephews: Donna Lawley and Rebecca Calhoun of Tishomingo, OK Marsha Derby of San Antonio, TX Carole Thompson of Laguna Niguel, CA Linda Fenoglio of Henrietta, TX Barbara Shroyer and Janet Johnson of Norman, OK Gordon Thornhill of Edmond, OK and Steve Ulrich of Arlington, TX 16 grandnieces and nephews 20 great-grandnieces and nephews 5 great- great-grandnieces and nephews and a special friend, Mark Ramie. Thanks to all her home care givers and to the nursing staff at Odyssey House. The Rosary will be said Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 5 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Chapel, 1401 NW 23rd St. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 8 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Moore City Cemetery.

I've worked for Mrs. Sturh for many years and she became more than just another customer. She became a very good friend. I know God placed her in my life for a reason and I'm blessed to have known her and become her friend. She will be missed.
