J.R. Church Obituary

Dr. J.R. Church, was called to glory on March 22, 2011, at the age of 72. He was born Nov. 17, 1938, in Abilene, TX, to Henry & Marie Church. After his high school graduation, J.R. attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. Having accepted the Lord's calling on his life at a young age, J.R. spent his entire life serving the Lord and others with all of his heart. J.R. married his lifelong companion, Linda Clarice Jordan, on Aug. 16, 1958, in Lubbock, TX. Together they invested their lives in ministering to others for over 50 years. He served as the Pastor of Western Hills Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX, for nearly 18 years and also founded Western Hills Baptist Academy before moving to OKC in 1979. While in OKC, J.R. and his family attended First Southern Baptist Church of Del City and started "Prophecy In The News" television ministry and diligently pursued its outreach until his health declined. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Katherine Sirpless, & brother Bobby Gene Church. He leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Church of the home; son, Jerry R. Church, Jr.; daughter, Terri J. McInnis; twin brother, Terry Nolan Church of Moore, OK; five grandchildren, Brittany Erin Church, Molly Ann Jewel Church, Sarah Dawn Church, James Matthew McInnis, and Jordan Randolph Church. J.R. touched countless lives throughout his ministry. He was a loving husband, devoted father, adoring grandfather and faithful servant to the Lord & others. Although J.R.'s presence on earth will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing he has received his eternal glory in Heaven. Memorial donations may be made to prophecyinthenews.com. Viewing will be 4-8 PM today at Vondel Smith Mortuary at South Lakes. Services to celebrate his life will be 10 AM Friday, March 25, 2011, at the South Lakes Chapel. I heard a teaching on when Jesus was born today. It reminded me of J. R. Church teaching about it in a church I pastored. Still can't find a flaw in it. Really enjoyed his teaching and the meals we shared.

It has been a year since J.R. Church passed away, but I did not find out until today (3-21-2012). I went on "Prophecy In The News" website to find out what Mrs. Click's (the lady who led him to Christ) first name was and was surprised to see that he had passed.

I knew him when we were just children in Lubbock, Texas. He and Terry visited the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where I belonged (and Mrs. Click belonged). They would come to church and play music.

Please read "Reflections From My Life" on the website, by J.R., if you have not already. HE WAS TRULY ANNOINTED BY GOD. I feel blessed to have known him and Mrs. Click. My prayers are with his family today.

My condolences to the hurch Family. Praise God we didn't loose J.R. we know exactly where he is. What a Grand thought to know that Brother J.R. is in the presence of our Heavenly Father and giving Praise to The Lord Jesus Christ. Before long we will join the throng of loved ones who have gone on before. Second Corinthians 5:8 God less.

We talked about Sky King rings one day in Florida a few years back while attending a conference where he spoke.
J.R. is eleven months older than myself and He was my barometer for experiencing the rapture while he lived in this earthly life. Since his spirit now lives in a place called Glory, we will still fly away in that great event together with a sea of brothers and sisters, one way or the other.

March 30, 2011

I am a humble recipient of J.R.'s ministry via his television broadcast, monthly magazine, books and daily news update. His impact in my life has been incalculable. I understood a primary desire of J.R.'s was to experience the Rapture while still alive. May we who remain look forward to that opportunity to "meet him in the air" one day soon. I promise to honor his memory and "Keep Looking Up!" until that day! Sincerely, David J. Ciepluch (Southeastern Wisconsin)

I am saddened by the news that Dr Church had passed. I listen to him daily through his CDs and he was such a wonderful and interesting teacher of Gods Word. I am happy that he is no longer in any pain and is at last Home with Jesus. May God continue to bless his family and ministry. He will be so missed by all of us.

So sorry to hear the news that Dr. Church had passed. I pray that his family will find peace and comfort in knowing that he is now walking with Jesus and looking forward to hearing the trumpet sound when he can be with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren again. What a great teacher, writer, and child of God. He will be missed by all. To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord.
What a sweet, loving man.

I want to send my Condolences to the Church Family and co-workers.
I have known of J R Church since he came to Winnipeg in the early 90's to speak at our local Prophecy Conference.
Have greatly enjoyed his monthly writings in Prophecy in the News magazine. Like many we would have loved to have him around another 50 years or more to instruct us in Prophecy if the Lord would tarry.
I'm praying for you and God bless all.

JR Church was a visionary in the work of Jesus Christ and His prophecies, as the Word Made Flesh.
I encourage all to continue to support PITN with Gary Stearman and Company as they bring the Gospel of Jesus as revealed in prophetic scripture to the whole word.
Linda, we're mourning with you, yet celebrating the triumph of death through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The passing of JR gives all the more reason to "keep looking up."

I have watched Prophecy In The News for years whether I was in SC, NE or WV. The Lord richly blessed him with the gift of prophecy and the ability of discernment. I will miss seeing him. May the Lord give Gary Stearman the ability to carry on this great work.

I've followed JR since 1998 and met him in 1999 at the Prophecy Conference in Tampa Bay. He was the nicest person and I've prayed for him ever since I learned he was ill. I know Heaven is a much better place with him there and we will see him again soon 'in the air'!

Our family is so sad to hear of J.R.'s passing. We will miss seeing him on this earth. How much happier, though, are we that he is in the prescence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! J.R. was an amazing man on this earth, and we are certain he has heard Jesus say to him "well done, my good and faithful servant." We love you all and pray God's comfort and strength for you all in the day's ahead.
Love,
