JAMES BOTTGER Obituary

Dec. 12, 1923 - March 9, 2016 OKLAHOMA CITY James Albert Bottger, 92, died March 9, 2016. He was born Dec. 12, 1923, in OKC to Earl James & Edith May Bottger. James was a corporal in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the bomb squadron working in the intelligence section as a draftsman. He was stationed in London, England, during the war. He worked as a draftsman at Roberson Steel, Capitol Steel and later, as an estimator salesman for Standard Steel, where he retired. He married Irma Lorene Gambill on Oct. 6, 1946. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irma Bottger; daughters, Sherri & husband Harvey Sparks II and Barbie & husband Herb Bradshaw; son, Ted Bottger & wife Sandy; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Willis Bottger & wife Lois; one nephew and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Terry Alan Bottger; parents, Earl James & Edith May Bottger; and brother, Robert Bottger. James "Jim" was a very talented man who enjoyed working with his hands. He could fix about anything, enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, and was always out in the yard or garage fixing or working on something. His family was his life and he was always the kind of husband and father we could count on. He loved his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Portland Ave. Baptist Church for 66 years, serving as deacon and ministering to many people in his lifetime. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Funeral is on Saturday, March 12, 10 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel with burial in Tuttle, OK. To share a memory or condolence, visit www.mercer-adams.com www.mercer-adams.com
