Thinking of James & smiling because of what such a nice and caring man he truly was ! Lots of donuts. ..lots of coffee lol.
Lots of Waffle House & coffee with James. He would drop me at the airport on my way to meetings out of state for work.
I kick myself because I lost track of him . Had I known he still lived in OKC I would have made time to come and say hi.
James had a way of seeing the value in you that most people do not possess .
The world feels a little vacant at times knowing there are no more chances to see him , and have ...
He adored my little daughter Katie too.
He knew I was a single Mom in the late 80s. He gave me his phone number & said if we needed anything all I had to do was call & he would help.
I'll always remember him .....

James was a very nice man. Better in his core than many men. Salt of the earth kind of man. He was very kind to my daughter & I after my divorce in 88. He met us in a donut shop where he had coffee every morning. Heard our story from the owner and offered to help if we needed it.
Later I remarried and stayed in touch with him. My husband and son drowned in 1997 and at the Enid funeral home there were flowers with a note signed to My Family from James & Mike Vaughan...it was so touching. He hadn't seen us in years but reached out all the same...so sorry to hear he passed away...I know many will miss him very much...

Friday Night under the lights, we shared many of them, and I thought James was THE coolest guy ever because he could get me into the pits where the cars were, I've since learned he was a cool cat for many other reasons! His special lady; I love that because Special is a great word for Mary and Smart is a perfect word for James who was smart enough to see just how special Mary is. I have many fond memories with James I will carry through this life and beyond, he may be gone from this world, but he will live on forever in our hearts.
