JASON GOFF

October 14, 1994 - October 23, 2014 EDMOND Jason Darren Henrie Goff, age 20, left this mortal life on October 23, 2014, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City surrounded by his loving family and many special friends. He was born October 14, 1994, Salt Lake City, Utah, to Darren & Lillian Henrie Goff. At the age of two, Jason and his family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, as his father was beginning an OB/GYN residency at OU Medical Center. The family loved Oklahoma so much they decided to make Oklahoma their permanent home. Jason attended Oklahoma Christian School from K-12th grade. Jason played football and basketball and served as student body president his senior year. His senior year the football team took the State Championship, the first time in the school's history. He and his younger brother Jared shared those football memories together. You loved seeing them give each other "high fives" as they came on and off the field. Jason was a four year varsity football starter and received various football recognitions during his high school career. He was chosen to play on the All-State West Football team. He also played football his first year of college at Oklahoma Baptist University. But after a year made the decision to give up football and focus on his education. He was a biology/pre-med major at the University of Oklahoma. Jason was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and attended the Edmond 1st Ward. He was blessed to be raised in a loving, supportive, religious family. He had a special relationship with each member of the family as well as many close friends. Family, friends, church, and sports were very important to him as well as the family dogs: Daisy and Captain. Many good times were enjoyed at the family's country property in Cedar Valley. That's where he was coming from the evening he was involved in an accident, which resulted in his untimely passing. A few weeks earlier, Jason had suddenly taken ill as a result of a viral infection attacking his heart, causing congestive heart failure. He was struggling with this setback in life but was doing his best to make the most of it; waiting and hoping his heart would heal. He is survived by his parents, Darren & Lil; sister, Alexis and brother, Jared of Edmond. Also his grandparents, Earl and Kaye Goff Butler of Edmond, John Henrie and Carolyn Lloyd Henrie of Utah; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a very special friend, Madison Goelz; and many wonderful friends, all of whom have been such a support at this time. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joyce Henrie; grandfather, Walter Goff; aunt, Charlene Goff and cousin, James Henrie. The family is so thankful for the many prayers and faith of friends and the community. It was simply Jason's time to leave this life. We believe that families are together forever, and we will be with Jason again. There is a life after death. In John 14:2 we read: "In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Matthew's Funeral Home of Edmond, 601 South Kelly. The viewing will be Saturday, October 25, from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral service is Sunday, October 26th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Edmond LDS Church, located at 1315 East 33rd South, Edmond. Jason will be buried Monday morning at 10am at Gracelawn Cemetery of Edmond, Oklahoma.
