Mr. Rogers

I hope you remember my son Grant Edwards. He was awarded the 2017 scholarship in honor of Jeffry. Grant promised in his speech that he would serve his country in any way possible. I just wanted to let you know that he leaves for basic training tomorrow and is will be serving his country proudly. Thank you for your incredible sacrifice and the love you have shown and continue to show young people. Much love to you! Cheryl

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Rogers Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Jeffry Alan Rogers US Marine Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Hey Jeff,

As I sit here at work in the basement of the Pentagon, flipping through the Marine Corps Times, I find an article about a Navy Cross recipient and the article headline is "I had really good teachers." As I start reading I realize that he was with you in that house, fighting to save your Marines and that you must surely be one of those teachers. At times like these I know you must be in heaven watching over me right now. Thank you so much for the kindness you showed me, and the love you showed my sister.

To the family of Cpl. Jeffry Alan Rogers,

I saw the "In Memoriam" article in today's paper (1-28-13). I guess I never really paid a lot of attention to the obituaries until I saw the picture of your brave son in his dress blues. You see my son just graduated from San Diego USMC last week. He too has a picture in his dress blues that is almost identical to Jeffry's. My son is 19. I have to tell you that although I am very proud of my son, just as I am in yours for serving our country, it scares me to no end. My guts and my soul are twisted around everytime I look at my son's picture knowing that he too may have to pay the ultimate price for the security of our nation some day, just as Jeffry did. I am a 49 year old man sitting here trying to type this note and keep from bursting into tears not only for Jeffry, but also for my son. I have cut the article out on Jeffry and will keep it in my desk as a daily reminder of the incredible sacrifce that he made for all of us and a daily reminider for me to pray for my son and all of the other Marines in harms way.

Semper Fidelis from our Marine family to yours.

It has taken way too long for me to write to you, seven years since you lost your son, Jeffry. The ultimate sacrifice was made to save others, one being my son. I got a phone call that my son was hurt, you got a knock on the door. I am so sorry. I say his name and those others that gave so much that day, everyday as I look at the memorial for them at my home. He will never be forgotten, nor will you in my thoughts.

Jeff,
Its getting to be about that time since we have graduated from boot camp about 9 years ago. We were supposed to stand next to each other as we marched out there together to graduate.... but the rest of that story I will keep between you and I.

We Both left San Diego that day to begin our careers in the Marine Corps, heading in separate directions fighting for the same cause, a cause which we believed in, a cause in which we were willing to sacrifice our lives for.

In the years ahead of us we faced things young men should never have to face, but we took it on head first and did it. The ultimate sacrifice was made, and you forever changed the lives of many people. I have not and will not ever forget you. It was such an honor to serve with such a hero...

Semper Fidelis Marine... May you forever Guard the Streets of Heaven

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

Jeff,
It has been way too long my friend. The last time I saw you was leaving San Diego in September of 2002. I constantly had my parents updating me on where you were and what you were doing. I know you served in our Marine Corps with such great honor, and you truly were a great Marine to serve with.

I just want to thank you for being such a great Marine, and a great friend. God Bless you Jeff. Semper Fidelis.

Hey Jeff,
On the way to see my folks, I always see your parents' flag half staff and I know that they were and are very proud of you. They love you very much. We as Americans also love you too, both for who you were and also for your great sacrifice. Thank you. Words cannot express what you have done both for us and for the people of Iraq. Your 10 year high school reunion is coming up soon. I remember you well at Putnam City North. You were a stand-up guy and respected. I remember you talking about wanting to join the military and serving your country. You were a good man. My love goes out to your family. Thank you again for paying the ultimate sacrifice. I wish you didn't have to. Wish you were here right now. But I know you lived your life out of love for God and others. You served just like Christ. There is no greater love than to lay down his life for his friend. Thanks Jeff. God bless.

November 16, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jeffry, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the Parents & Family of Cpl. Rogers,
My deepest sympathies in the loss of your courageous Hero Son, Jeffry on 11/16/05. Indeed, he was an extraordinary and very brave young American! My Soldier Son, Pfc. David Martin of Edmond was also KIA in 2005 in Iraq...10/31/05. As a fellow Gold Star Family in the OKC area, we would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to your Family. Our ongoing memories of pride and love will be of the very special, well lived lives our Sons lived....
Hugs...

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. It seems such a short time ago that we were discussing his decision to join the military. You were proud and apprehensive at that time. My heart aches for you. He always sounded like such a fine young man who knew what he wanted and had the determination to get it. I am grateful for every person who is willing to defend our country and way of life. Were it not for such courage and willingness to defend us, we would have no freedom. But, I wish it had not been him who had to sacrifice and I wish it were not you, suffering such a loss. No greater love than this than a man lay down his life for a friend.

Last Wednesday we received the news of U.S. Marines killed in action. That evening the United States Marine Corp knocked on our door in Apache, Oklahoma to tell us our grandson, son, brother, nephew was killed in action. We mourn the loss of Josh Ware and Jeff Rogers because we will never see them come through our front doors. Yet we know that as young fighting Marines, they accomplished their mission that day. Because of what they did that day and in Fallujah, we will be safer here in the United States. They were then ushered into the Kingdom of Heaven where they were given a new, eternal body and will be helping the creater in preparing a place where we will meet them once more. To live side by side for eternity. God Bless you.

Your son's life was given as the Ultimate Sacrifice for our nation's freedom. Nothing could ever touch an individual more than knowing a loving mother and father gave their son unselfishly as he proudly fought and defended the Great American Dream, on-land and abroad.

I, among many, am so thankful for your son and his sacrifice to his country. I know that his life has touched so many people around the world and believe his story about the love of his country will continue to be heard. He will always be remembered as a "Hero Among Heroes" and will continue to live on in our hearts!

Please know that so many people are on their knees praying for the Lord's continued strength in your lives, as well as our military brothers and sisters who are fighting, have fought and have given their lives so the rest of us may live in Freedom! I pray that God's love will envelope you and your family and that you know He feels your loss so deeply as He also experienced such a great sacrifice.

I know your son is with the Lord, who is always with you and promises He will never leave. Jeffry is standing right there beside God with that same promise! And I know, one day, you will see him again; and on that day, you will never again have to part!

May God continue to bless your family and may you continue to bless others through your stories of your son!

In His Love,

Melissa Brese

There are no words awesome enough to express the gratitude which I have for the dedicated service which Cpl. Jeffry A. Rogers and Cpl. Joshua J. Ware have contributed to this country and to the freedom of mankind. Though I have never met them in person, I consider them my "personal" heroes. My prayers go out to the Heavelly Father that He may comfort these two heroes' family members, and grant upon them the strength they will need to go on with their "Free" lives in the months ahead.

Like so many others have expressed, words truly can't possibly be enough. What I know personally about Jeff is very positive. Though I didn't know him very well...I know my Debbie did. The pain in her heart is very great. She has a very special place in her heart for Jeff.

What I do know is that he served his country well. He is a patriot from the purest sense of the word. Jeff is the reason that we Americans are "free."

We both have felt the loss with you two. However, no one person could possibly know the pain as you (his parents) do. I hope that the "peace that passes all understanding" will guard you and help ease your pain at this time. We're here for you both.

Words cannot express my sorrow for the loss of your son, Jeffrey. I don't have a son, but daughters, and I cannot begin to think how I would deal with the loss of one of them. I cannot place myself in your shoes, but only express my sorrow and keep you in my thoughts an prayers.

I did not know Jeffrey, but being your son, I can imagine what a fine, passionate individual he must have been. He gave his life protecting the very freedom that we often take for granted and for that we will always be truly grateful.

May God be with you always.

Janet and Jim,

There are no words to say how sorry I am for the loss of your son. There is no greater sacrifice than giving your life for your country. I am the son of a career military man who spent a good deal of his career in and out of combat zones. I have always been very proud of him for his service to his country and I am extremely proud of Jeff for his Service to this great country. Please know that both of you and your family are in my prayers daily during this difficult time. Mark

Janet and Jim - there is nothing that anyone could say or do to lessen or take away the pain you are feeling now. I know how proud you are of Jeff, of his committment and his dedication to "making a difference" and he has done that. From some of the other comments, you can see what a difference Jeff made, not only with his family and friends, but also with his fellow soldiers. My heartfelt love and prayers are with you, know that you are loved and that God will be your source of strength during this tragic time. May He wrap His loving arms around you and give you his shoulder to lean on.

Janet and Jim,

There are no adequate ways to console at a time such as this as it is impossible for anyone to imagine the extent of grief you are experiencing. However, it is possible to imagine the pride you must feel for a son who gave his life so that his mother and father can continue to live the life of freedom that only America provides.

Janet, we all love you and you will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult period.

Love you,
