John Stringfellow Obituary

John Michael Stringfellow arrived in Heaven on Friday, November 2, 2001. John was born to Lonnie and Jerry Stringfellow on September 21, 1949 in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Texas and Oklahoma. He moved to Oklahoma City in 1969, where he met and married his best friend and love of his life, Debby Taylor. John and Debby celebrated 31 years of marriage in August of this year. John will be greatly missed by his wife, Debby; his daughters, Amy and Jill and his precious granddaughters, Taylor and Jaryn. He is also survived by his mother, Jerry Stringfellow of Malakoff ,Texas; brother, Ron Stringfellow of Cedar Hill, Texas, as well as a host of family and friends. John touched the lives of all who knew him. His love of life, his smile, sense of humor and quick wit were some of the things that endeared John to those who knew him. A precious gift was given to John in March, 2000 when he received a heart transplant. Because of the love and generosity of the Jim Matthews family, John lived 20 more bonus months and his testimony has impacted many people. Because of John's transplant, he became an advocate for organ donation and served as Vice President of Hope Transplant Support Group; spoke to many groups through the Oklahoma Organ Sharing Network; and visited and encouraged many patients and families as they waited for transplant or during their recovery. John's family is grateful to his very special doctors, Dr. David Nelson; Dr. Sam Dahr; and Dr. Aly Aly, as well as the entire staff of the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute, and the nursing units at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center 701 and 7 East. Not only was John a loving son, husband, Daddy, Papa, and friend to so many, but he was also a Christian who loved to share how God worked in his life. He was an active member of Capitol Hill Baptist Church serving in the music ministry, teaching Sunday School, as well as serving as a deacon, former chairman of the deacons and on various committees. John also served on the Board of Directors for the Work Activity Center of Moore, Oklahoma where daughter, Amy, has worked for ten years. John loved life and those who knew John loved him. Services to celebrate John's life will be held on Tuesday, November 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Capitol Hill Baptist Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute or the Work Activity Center in Moore, Oklahoma. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 6934 S. Western 634-1439

John was part of our prayer time durng the summer of 2000. We came to know of him through Courtney Owens. His life and testimony extended to the MidWest as we prayed and then celebrated what God did for John that year.

Our prayers continue with your family. Celebrate the Abundant Life given by God alone.

Debby, Amy, and Jill;

I sat in stunned silence as I read this. Jayne and I have both been touched so much by John's loving spirit and gentle kindness. A bright smile was always on his face even though he was in pain or tired. We will never forget this smile and his willingness to help out no matter the cirsumstance.

We love you all and will be praying for you.
