Just over 12 years after his passing, I learned that Dr. Thompson passed. I met him when I was in undergraduate at the University of Oklahoma and he was a Master’s candidate living in the same dorm. He was much more committed than I to scholastic pursuits. He was gracious, cultured and an endearing presence. The fact that I have not been in his presence in 41 years is in no way indicative of my lack of respect. It was an era where contact was harder to maintain due to the cost of long-distance calls and the fact that we just did not have communications devices in our pockets like we do today. The fact that knowing him has affected me across the gulf of decades pays homage to his memory. To those who loved him most, my belated condolences are a tribute to him and to you loved him. Thank you for sharing him with me.

Dr. Thompson was truly an inspiration to all of us during our time at OC.
There are no words to ease your hurt right now but please remember. The pain you are feeling is a symbol of love.
Rather than letting the hurt in your heart be a sign of your loss, let it be an eternal reminder of everything you have gained from sharing in the life of someone so special.
Dr. Thompson will always and forever be remembered with love.

Like others, I knew John Henry in high school and loved him very much. He was an inspiration and everyone knew he was a Christian. I am proud to have been his friend.

John was a good friend in high school. I met him the first day of our freshman year. All I can say is that God blessed us all with John Henry's being in our lives. Though I have not seen him since high school, I have though of him often. I weep along with all others that knew him, because we have lost someone that was special in our lives.

I remember John Henry from Chickasha High School. He was 3 grades ahead of me and, tho I did not know him well, I knew he was a truly delightful person. I am not surprised he grew into such a successful person and scholar as he was always "one of the nicest people" you'd know. My prayers are with you at his loss.
