I have one picture displayed prominently from medical school. It was Dr. Unger and 3 other students, eating dinner outside during second year medical school. He was such a caring teacher, mentor, man. So sorry for everyone's loss

I wasn't sure I belonged in Medical school. For most of the first few months, I never unpacked into my module desk. I kept thinking someone would come and realize the mistake and march me out. But then there was Leon, who assured us that we could do this. That it was ok, it was tough but only as rough as we made it, it was better if we could be nice to each other, and ourselves, and not take it too seriously. He led by example in humility and kindness. I always came away with an "of course". Of course I understand these concepts, of course I belong here. Thanks, Leon, of course.

He was a wonderful teacher. His humor was refreshing and welcoming to new medical students like me. I still think of him everytime I use medications that involve HGPRT, his favorite! My thoughts are with his loved ones. God bless you and heal your hearts.
