Lorene Sabolich Obituary

November 2, 1921 - May 7, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Lorene Estelle Wilkerson Sabolich, beloved wife and mother, went to be with her Lord on May 7, 2011. She was born in Lexington, Oklahoma, the only child of Hiriam and Pearl Tucker Wilkerson. Lorene loved school and was a straight A student at Crooked Oak School, but had to drop out at the age of sixteen to work and care for her ill mother when her father passed away. She later got a job as a nursing aide at University Hospital where she met her future husband, Lester Sabolich. After their marriage, she moved with him to Santa Fe, New Mexico, for him to fulfill his Army service. They both worked at Bruns Military Hospital during World War II. After the birth of their daughter, Carole, she began her career as a homemaker. She was a valuable help to her husband when they returned to Oklahoma City after the war and began the business which became Sabolich Prosthetics Center. Lorene will always be remembered as an avid student of the Bible and Bible prophecy and friend to Prison Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Lester. She is survived by her two children: daughter, Carole Tiemann and husband Carl; and her son, John Alan Sabolich and wife, Lee; also five grandchildren: Crystal Carlton and husband, Tim; Trey Martin; Scott Sabolich and wife, Devin; Brian Sabolich and wife, Maike; and Laura Sabolich; as well as 8 great-grandchildren - all of Oklahoma City area; and dear family friends, Retha and Bob Jantz. A special thanks to caregivers, Tammy Newport, Johnna Stevens, Debbie Wagner, and friends at Compassionate Care Hospice. Memorial services will be held on May 12, at 2 p.m., at the chapel of Crossings Community Church, 14600 N. Portland, Oklahoma City, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Limbs for Life, 5929 N. May, Suite 511, Oklahoma City, OK 73112, begun by their family to provide prosthetic services for those in need, or to charity of their choice.

To the Sabolich family,

I just learned of Lorene's passing. Although I had limited contact with Lester and Lorene, they were always warm and gracious. Their lives have endeared many, many people who have immeasurably benefited from having known them, their work, and their compassion to all.

I have such great memories of your family. The many dinners and New Years Day celebrations hold a special place in my heart. The movie of me and the ducks always stirs up thoughts of watching black and white films and your dad "narrating" and laughing all the way thru. I'll miss knowing that I can't stop by Val Verde and say "Hi".
Love & Prayers to all of your family.
