Lottie Douglas Obituary

Funeral services for Lottie Robertson Douglas will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. She was born April 16, 1926, in Warrior Community, outside Checotah, Oklahoma (an area she affectionately referred to as "Daddy Roy's Country,") and later moved to Oklahoma City, where she remained until her death January 27, 2011. Three sons, Johnny, Jerry "Yero" and Racilus (Angela), and a daughter, Rita (Frank), survive her. Brothers Leroy Jr., and Rayfield "Cump," and sisters-in-law Samantha Porter, Mae Ella Conley and Lillian Dickinson, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive her. Her husband, Racilus Douglas Sr., two sons, Jimmie and Eddie, her parents, Leroy and Matilda Stidham Robertson, two brothers, Willie and Phillip and two sisters, Lona and Edna, preceded her in death. Mrs. Douglas retired in 1987 after working 26 years in the Oklahoma City Public School System as a Cafeteria Manager. She was active in her church, at which she was a member for 65 years. She loved sewing and cooking for her family, tending her garden, which she called her "farm," and growing and sharing beautiful flowers, including her prize roses. She loved the very young and the very old, taking special time to attend to their needs. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Temple and Sons Funeral Home.
