Helen Lucas Gill, of Midwest City, OK, died peacefully on March 6, 2020, surrounded by her children. Helen was born in Oklahoma City, OK on May 22, 1940, to Oval & Mary Woolbright. She gave her heart to Christ when she was a little girl and recommitted her life as a 16 year old. She graduated Northwest Classen High School in 1958 and met her future husband, John Lucas, while attending Central State College in Edmond, OK. They were married on Aug. 26, 1960.
Helen worked in the medical field for several family practice doctors, and then worked for Neuroscience Specialists for over twenty years. She joined her husband in his call to the pastorate, serving together in churches in Norman and Del City, OK. After John's sudden death in 1990, Helen married Jerry Gill in 1992, and they were married for twenty-three years until his death in 2016.
Helen is survived by her children, Kurt Lucas, of Sarasota, FL; Karen King and husband Jim Woodward, of Choctaw, OK; Kendall Lucas and wife Jamie, of Denton, TX; five grandchildren, Dr. Christopher King and wife Annia, of Pembroke Pines, FL; Dr. Brandon King and wife Raegan, of Vian, OK; Caleb King and wife Ashlee, of Midwest City, OK; Lauren Apel and husband Mark, of Denton TX; and Alex Radford and husband Garrett, of Manhattan Beach, CA; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oval and Mary Woolbright; sister, Jody Trochta; brother, Kenny Woolbright; husband, John Lucas; and husband, Jerry Gill. Helen was dearly loved by her family and all those that knew her. She was always kind and gracious in the way that she interacted with people. She was a loving pastor's wife for over twenty years, working full time while supporting her husband each week in teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and loving her children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City, OK on Monday, March 9, 2020, at 10 a.m. There will be a Visitation on Sunday, March 8, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
